Car Interior Repair

A new car does not need any car interior repair but as it grows older, you will need to pay special attention. The dashboard, leather items, carpets, seat covers, door panels, etc. need to be either replaced or repaired.

Start the car interior repair from painting the dashboard. First of all, remove all the parts that you can and wash them in warm water with dish soap added to it. Use a soft cloth to clean the other interior parts such as steering wheel, door panels, dashboard, etc. Cover the other areas then rub the plastic parts and affected area with a fine-grade sand paper. Again clean up and apply good quality of primer on the areas you want to paint. Allow to dry and finally apply the proper re-paint color that is specially designed for your car type. A vinyl repair kit is the best option or dash cover is good choice in case of ample damage. Many dash covers are available that can match the carpet color in your car.

The loose headliner at times may be irritating and awkward. The fabric headliners in old cars were not a big problem, but the flabby headliner in modern cars may be disturbing at times specially while driving the car. If not repairable you need to change the whole set and it might cost you a big amount if done from a specialist. The headliner material and replacement kits are easily available in the market and you can easily fix the problem without hiring the professional.

The carpets in your car play an important role in car interior repair. The faded and damaged carpets in your car give a dull feeling inside the car. Replacing the whole carpet on your own can be a good option. Its easy job and many replacement carpets are available in the market that will perfectly fit your car model. You just need to remove the seats, door still plates, center console, and seat belts. The old carpet can be easily removed if not pasted originally. If bonded with some material it may take some time. Finally clean up the floor surface and install the new carpet. You can even follow the detail instructions in the manual provided while buying the carpet.

The car interior repair is incomplete without repairing the damaged leather seat covers. If the tear is small, the vinyl sealant can simply do the job. A vinyl repair kit is available for larger tear. These kits are provided with filler paste in a variety of colors that can match your interior. Also, you have the option of fabric repair kits for small holes in your seat cover. Protecting your seats is vital because it plays a major role while selling the car. The impressive and well-maintained seat covers can always add a great value to your car.

It is not always the case that you need a professional to do the car interior repair. The minor problems can be solved on your own. All types of company kits and manuals are available in the market. Well, one thing is sure the minor problem is the cause of major difficulty in future. Hence, it is important to detect them and repair in the first stage itself.

Serious Car Accidents Often Lead to Whiplash

Car accidents can be quite violent. It isn't too often that people walk away from these fender benders unscathed. The most common car accident injury claim following a crash is whiplash and similar ailments involving you back and neck. The sudden impact of a car accident causes your head to be suddenly thrown backwards and sideways. This leads to your bones, discs, muscle tendons, and nerves in your neck and upper back to become swollen and inflamed to the point of being quite painful.

You may not even realize you are suffering from a whiplash injury but you'll definitely know something is wrong because of the stiffness in your muscles and pain in the back, neck, jaw, arms or shoulders. Back and neck injuries like whiplash injuries are diagnosed through radiological examinations and medical imaging. You'll be taken for x-rays and MRI's to make sure your spine is in proper alignment which is affected due to the trauma of the impact. This is also mandatory as part of your road traffic accident claim.

Some whiplash sufferers tell in their car accident injury claim that they also have feelings of nausea, blurred vision and difficulty in swallowing. Serious injuries such as memory loss, impaired concentration, personality changes like nervousness and depression may also warrant a car accident compensation claim due to whiplash injury. These signs can begin immediately following the impact, while other times they won't manifest for few hours or days later.

Normally, these painful symptoms last for a period of days but it isn't abnormal for some episodes to last anywhere up to six months. Pain relievers and muscle exercises are prescribed as a means of dealing with the problem. In more severe car accident compensation claim circumstances, the symptoms of whiplash can last over a period of several years, or worse yet permanent damage.

Many people don't realize that they are entitled to a road traffic accident claim, especially if they are suffering needlessly from an accident that wasn't even their fault. Contact a personal injury solicitor immediately following an accident to assist you with any legal questions you may have about filing a car accident compensation claim.

As far as the legality of it, these types of claims are said to be no win no fee. The plaintiff is only required to pay lawyer fees if they successful with their case. In many of these personal injury cases, the lawyer normally offers a 100% compensation guarantee. If your whiplash claim is successful, they recover their legal costs, along with a success fee from the third party insurance company. The great thing about all of this is you are not required to pay for anything from start to finish.

Anne is a legal expert passionate about handling your road traffic accident claim, with ease, speed and professionalism. Trust your case to a dynamic attorney. A car accident injury claim solicitor can act swiftly on your behalf to obtain car accident compensation claim.

Selling Your Car

Selling your car can be a difficult thing to do, especially if you feel like you can't pull yourself away from it. Maybe that car has been with you since college or maybe you won that car at a local carnival. Whatever it is, it is always tough to sell a car that you have become accustomed to driving day in and day out. If you do decide to sell your car, don't let the process drag you down and wear you out. It can be a trying thing to do and can be bothersome if you are having trouble finding the right deal.

When placing your car for sale, always decide beforehand whether or not you are going to trade it in at a dealership when purchasing a new one. If you aren't going to trade the vehicle in, begin researching the car's blue book value on the internet or in the book itself. Once you figure out what your car is worth, begin looking for the best places to advertise the sale of your vehicle. Take pictures of the inside and outside of your car for the sale listing. Many people advertise the sale of their car on websites such as Craigslist as well as in public places.

Many supermarkets have public bulletin boards that allow their customers to place ads on them. Those ads are usually for renting an apartment or a condominium and for selling a house, a car and other equipment. The ad should be one page, with a picture on it, and a phone number for potential buyers to reach the seller at. Post your ads in as many local supermarkets as possible and also consider posting the ad on any website that allows you to do the same. If you post the ad on the internet, here you can add more than one picture.

When creating an advertisement for your car, make sure you include all of the pertinent information that potential buyers will want to know when they are looking for a new car. Information you should provide is make, model, color, mileage, last service, repairs, features and anything else you want to include. Features include the stereo system, ABS, sunroof/moon roof, alarm, heated seats, CD player, TVs on the backs of the front seats and much more. Also, if a potential buyer wants to know the history of your vehicle, you have to tell them. That includes how many accidents your car has been involved in, if there are any, as well as all repairs that the vehicle has been through.

When selling your car, don't take the first offer that comes along. Always wait a couple of weeks after the first offer comes in to look at anymore potential offers that might come through. Why? Something better might come along down the road. Once you begin fielding offers for your car, sit down and analyze what has come in so far, what you are looking to spend on your next car, and how much you can make from selling this car. Once you determine which offer is best for you, tell the buyer and make the sale. The only thing left is transferring the plates and the title to the new owner.

Car Insurance - What Happens If You Don't Have It?

If you're like me, you get sick of paying insurance. As you pay those high insurance bills, the thought crosses your mind, "What if I just don't pay it? What's the worst that could happen?" Depending on where you live, a variety of things could happen. In this article, you will discover what's required and what can happen if you don't pay your car insurance.

In the United States, each state is allowed to come up with their own set of laws and this applies to insurance also. In New Hampshire, no liability insurance is required but in Virginia, you must pay a $500 annual fee if you choose not to have liability insurance. In North Carolina, no insurance = no drivers license.

If you own a car, in every state the minimum requirement is liability insurance. Liability insurance doesn't cover you or your property, but covers the costs of the other people involved in the accident. That way if the accident is your fault, your insurance can pay medical costs and the costs to repair or replace the other person's car. Here are some of the penalties for not having liability car insurance:

  • Large fines - fines vary from $100 to $500 for first-time offence
  • Suspension of license - time varies from 30 days to 3 months for first-time offence
  • Jail time - usually only after you have been caught driving with a suspended license

As you can see, none of these are good and you need to know your individual state's requirements. One of the easiest ways to find out the requirements for your state is to go online and search for " 'name of state' car insurance laws". Beware of unofficial websites offering information though. There are many sites set up to make money off of selling car insurance or getting leads for car insurance quotes. Make sure you find your state's official site so you know you are getting the correct information for your site.

Now that you know what liability insurance is and some of the consequences, check your state's insurance laws today so you can make sure you are covered and don't suffer a fine, license suspension, or even jail time.

Car Accidents

A motorist owes a "duty of care" to other road users. This means he/she should not hurt other people, whether other drivers, passengers (including passengers in his/her own vehicle), pedestrians, cyclists and so forth.

In simple terms, what has to be shown if your claim is to be successful is that the motorist has been at fault because he or she has failed to drive with reasonable care.

If a motorist who is at fault is either uninsured or untraced, then innocent victims are protected by the Motor Insurers' Bureau (the MIB), which provides a fund that can be claimed against in these circumstances.

The UK has one of the best records for road safety in the EU, and also compares favorably with countries such as Japan, Australia and the US.

However, road traffic accidents are still a leading cause of death and serious injury in this country. Figures from the Department of Transport show that in the year 2006, there were over 3,000 fatalities and 28,000 serious injuries. There were more than 258,000 recorded injuries in total.

There are around 10,000 car accidents in the UK every day. Car accidents can be caused by vehicle failure or poor road maintenance. The vast majority are the result of human error.

When presented with a possible car accident claim there are a few elements that need to be considered and checked against. From the beginning we need to make sure that the police are aware of every element of injury to you and damage to your car. The smallest scratch, as well as the smallest inconvenience regarding time and finance can constitute a successful claim.

Also a very important aspect of any potential claim is time. It is vital that the case is submitted as soon as possible to ensure a successful claim.

The Highway Code is a good guide when trying to assess who is at fault. Some of the more common faults in driving result from speeding, overtaking, failing to keep a proper lookout.

Car Games

Be it bumper to bumper traffic, or a ride to Grandma's house-- long car rides can do a number on any group of people, specifically families. The following is a list of some car games to consider playing with the whole gang!

The ABC Game is popular with a younger crowd, as it only requires knowledge of the alphabet. To play, each person in the car must try and complete the entire alphabet by identifying letters they see on license plates or billboards. When a letter is located, it is called out, and then eliminated. The first person to complete the entire alphabet wins.

A fun game that I especially enjoy is called "Word Justifying". One person in the car is the leader, and the others are the players. Each person thinks of a word. The players announce their words first, and then the leader announces his word at the end. The players then each take turns justifying why their word is most related to the leader's word. A winner is chosen, and the winner becomes the new leader.

When you are driving for a long period of time in the country or in other rural areas, it may be fun to play games involving the animals you see along the way. Assign points to each kind of animal. For instance, cows are worth two points, cats worth one, farm animals worth four or five, and so on. The first person in the car that reaches twenty is the winner.

Variations on twenty questions can always be fun, and occupy lots of time. Someone in the car chooses to be a person, place, or thing. Everyone else in the car can ask that person up to twenty 'yes or no' questions about it in the hopes of narrowing down their guesses enough to the point where they can figure it out! Whoever guesses correctly is the next person to be grilled.

Music games can be fun, and also test trivia knowledge in the car. Someone hums a part of a television show theme or score to a movie, and everyone else takes turns guessing which song it is. Whoever guesses correctly is next! For older or more enthusiastic players, try seeing who can recite all the lyrics to a song instead of guessing the title.

The Cow Game is another classic, and can be altered easily based on what's most fun. Ideally, the car is split into sides, and each side counts as many cows on their end as possible. Whenever a cemetery is passed, the side of the car it is on loses all their points and has to start over. Whoever has the most points by the end wins!

Car Shipping Cost

When you decide to move to another city, state, or for that matter even overseas, one of the services that you will invariably require is that of a car transport company. Earlier, people used to pack up their belongings and drive down to their destination. However, these days, excess luggage and usually more than one car, makes driving not a viable option. Many people also wish to take their car along on vacation, so that they can drive around, and have more flexibility. In such cases, the services of a car transport company are a blessing in disguise.

There are two options to have your car transported, but there are different car shipping cost involved. You could either have someone drive it for you, or alternatively, have it shipped by a transport carrier. Having you car driven by someone turns out to be cheaper than shipping it by a transport carrier. The car shipping cost will depend on the distance the car needs to be driven, and usually the cost of fuel is included in the fee on mileage basis. Though this option is cheapest, you cannot use it for overseas transport. Also, when the distance is longer, you need to take into account the wear and tear that the car will be subjected to. Also, people feel uncomfortable to let someone else drive their car, especially since they do not know the person.

Having your car transported by a car carrier is comparatively costlier as far as car shipping cost is concerned, however it is more safe. Here you can have your car shipped in an open trailer truck, or an enclosed one. Needless to say, the enclosed method is more costly than the transporting in an open trailer. However, if you need to transport a costly car, or some vintage, an enclosed trailer is preferable as your car is safe against the agencies of nature like rain, sun, dirt and dust, etc. For international shipping, you could choose from a sole use container service, or a shared container service. Again, a sole use container would come out to be more costly than the shared container, and as such you would prefer this service for your costly car. For an additional fee, you can also ship some other belongings with the car in your sole use container.

In the United States, all car-shipping carriers are required to provide insurance. You should check the details for this before signing a contract. While some carriers may charge you separately for insurance, others might have it included with their fee, and so the exact details for the insurance should be checked by you before agreeing to anybodys service.

Pedal Car Restoration

Restoring a vintage pedal car is a great way to bring your stylish collectible back to its former glory. It is a time consuming, yet very rewarding, process. Restoration can mean everything from replacing a missing hubcap to completely overhauling the entire car. This, of course, will depend on the original condition, and your goals. Here's a guide to restoration for collectors of these wonderful toys.

First, find a pedal car to restore. Of course, you can restore your own childhood plaything. Restoring your childhood toy can be a great way to preserve fond memories. However, you can also purchase a vintage original specifically to restore. If you are purchasing a vintage car, look for a few things that will make your restoration job easier. If the body is straight with no damage, this will save you a lot of work. Consider the amount of restoration needed when buying a project car.

Then, carefully evaluate the condition of your pedal car. Look for areas that are worn or damaged. You should disassemble the car completely so that you can examine the interior parts as well. Make sure that you do not damage any nuts, bolts, or other mounting hardware in the process of disassembling the car.

Pedal car restoration for collectors can range from very simple projects to an elaborate undertaking. If your car is in relatively good condition, you may simply need to do a little work to preserve it. If your car only needs thorough cleaning and minor repairs, your work will be quite simple. Clean each part, make any necessary repairs, and then reassemble your project. However, if your car has rusted spots, worn paint, and missing pieces, you will have quite a lot of work ahead of you if you want to perform a full restoration.

Now, find any parts that you need to make your project car complete. It will be quite difficult to find the missing pieces of some models although if you're lucky, yours will be one of the more popular ones, and spare parts will be available. There are several online vendors of reproduction parts, or you may be able to find a part from a pedal car that is otherwise in poor condition. If all else fails, you may be able to craft a replacement.

Finally, prepare the car to be rebuilt. Strip and sand old paint and rust from the body, remove dents, weld cracks and holes, and repair rusted areas. Then send it out to be repainted inside and out, and send accessory parts to be chrome plated. Finally, install any replacement parts you have ordered, and put the pedal car back together. Be sure to fit it together once before the final assembly, to make sure that all of the parts will fit together correctly.

Pedal car restoration involves everything from replacing missing parts to refinishing the chassis or overhauling the drive mechanism. However, try to keep as much of the original equipment as possible, as this will add to the value of the finished result. Restoration is a balance of preserving the original pedal car and improving its display value. Restoring your dream collectible can be very rewarding as you watch it turn from a rusty old car to a beautiful, shiny pedal car worthy of display.

Classic Pedal Cars specializes in reproduction steel pedal cars that will last for years.

In-Car Entertainment - Technology Moves On

Car Audio and In-Car Entertainment is an essential feature of any car. In-car entertainment has come a long way from the days when your options were an AM/FM radio or if you were really lucky, a cassette tape player. Thanks to the reduced costs of devices such as LCD screens/monitors and the cost efficiency to the end consumer of the ever converging media playable technologies (in-car entertainment hardware units are capable of playing CD, MP3, WMA and DVD), In-Car Entertainment is within reach of an increasingly larger base of consumers. However, before you part with your hard-earned cash, whether on a Pioneer car stereo, a JVC speaker system or an iTrip or Belkin MP3 player connection kit, try and check out what other drivers think about their in-car entertainment systems.

Improving the quality of your in-car audio experience can be as simple or as complex as you decide to make it. Today, consumer choices for In-Car Entertainment have grown in quality and sophistication. Today's automotive electronics engineers are actively exploring new worlds when it comes to the exciting world of In-Car Entertainment. The electronics industry is seeing increased demand for this type of in-car technology.

Whatever your driving habits, entertainment preferences or budget, there is a growing range of in-car products to turn driving into an exciting, vibrant, emersing entertainment experience. When you spend a lot of time behind the wheel of a vehicle, in-car entertainment is an absolute must. Hours and hours of tedious motorway driving rapidly passes by whilst listening to your favorite music. Many in-car audio systems now come with MP3 player connectivity so you can attach and play your favorite music directly from an MP3 player through the cars entertainment system.

As the cost of automotive electronics continues to fall, the increase of additional electronic technologies, such as navigation and advanced telematics, will expand so rapidly that they will soon be standard features in most vehicles. Not so long ago you either paid a fortune for a dedicated satellite navigation unit fitted into your car's dash or struggled with a PDA and a separate GPS receiver plus a tangle of charging and connecting cables wrapped around the steering column and most of the car floor. Many of the GPS Navigation Systems even have a business address facility so that you can enter a name and the system will direct you to your required destination.

New technology has enabled vehicle audiophiles and gadget technophiles to take advantage of MP3 technology and USB devices. Whether you're looking to connect your iPod, other brand of MP3 Player, USB Drive, Hard Drive or just a simple CD Player you'll find an in-car entertainment company that will cater for your needs.

Public Car Auction - Buy a Car For 80% Off

Have you ever wondered why auto dealers seem to be the only people who are allowed to go to car auctions and get all the good prices on vehicles? For years, the auto industry has been protected by regulating entry into car auctions, thereby minimizing the ability of the average person to get a really good buy on a car or truck. Those days are coming to an end, now, though, with the increased popularity of the public car auction.

A public car auction is open to anyone and can be found in cities all over the country. They work much like any other auction, where the car goes to the highest bidder. Generally speaking, most public car auctions expect payment by cash or cashier's check, but it is just as easy to bid on a vehicle as it is to bid on a work of art.

It is even possible now to attend a public car auction without ever leaving your house; that's right, there are websites now devoted to providing you with the ability to take part in a public car auction with the click of a mouse. You can enjoy the auction in real time, or you can view the autos in person and make silent bids online.

If you have a son or daughter who will soon be turning sixteen or if you are in need of a second vehicle or just want to sell the car you have and make a change in your life, the new public car auctions may be just the perfect way to find your perfect vehicle at the best possible price. Don't think that your only options are to scour the classified ads or head down to the local auto superstore and pay whatever price the salesman thinks is fair. You now have a new option, and it may be the best one yet.

Should I Bring My Classic Car to a Restoration Shop?

You finally got your dream classic car and can't wait to get on the road. The only problem is your classic beauty needs restoration to get running. Should you bring your classic car to a restoration shop or do it yourself?

Even if you're a master mechanic, fixing up a classic car is tricky. If you want to show the car, often original parts are necessary to maintain "classic" car status. A professional restoration specialist will help you find original and appropriate parts to truly restore your classic ride. Having a professional restoration can mean the difference between showing your car or simply using it for pleasure.

Another issue when restoring classic cars is using the right automotive tools for the job. If you are able to find authentic car parts on your own, will you have the necessary tools to install them? Having a professional on call makes it easier to complete your car once the restoration parts arrive. Restoration specialists have access to all the tools required to complete the job correctly.

Whether you choose to take your classic vehicle to a restoration shop or do it yourself, you still need to keep tools on hand. Older vehicles require ongoing maintenance and regular adjustments. It is easier and less expensive to have tools on hand to make minor adjustments and repairs on your own. A specialty automotive company will sell the garage essentials required to keep your classic engine humming.

If you decide to restore your classic car on your own, have all the original manuals handy to refer to for the right parts and procedures. Exterior and interior detailing are part of restoring your classic vehicle. Your classic car should look beautiful and run flawlessly to challenge the competition.

Another element of classic car restoration is prevention. Special coatings and processes are used on classic cars to prevent rust and keep the vehicle in top shape. Preventative maintenance helps to save you from making major, costly repairs down the road.

Finally, your fluids and tires must also be in perfect order. Classic car tires make the package complete. Top quality tires should be securely mounted on authentic rims for maximum visual appeal. All fluids should be fresh and at the appropriate levels.

There are many elements to consider when restoring a classic truck, hot rod or antique car. Parts must be original or authentic. Certain tools are required to repair classic vehicles. Exterior and interior maintenance must be performed with suitable products that won't harm delicate older materials. Automotive work must be done in a clean area away from direct sunlight. Many classic car owners combine professional restoration with home maintenance to keep their vehicles in optimum condition.

Whether you're looking for the perfect restoration shop or durable automotive tools to do the job yourself, ClassicCars.com has everything you need to create a timeless treasure. Right down to classic car tires all your needs are available online at ClassicCars.com.

Many times in the past as an automotive technician, I would be given a car to diagnose that either had a problem that prevented the car's engine from turning over or that prevented the car's engine from starting. These are two completely different scenarios and these problems are approached differently. Sometimes when the service writer would create a work order, he wouldn't convey the REAL problem that the customer was experiencing. If the customer or the service writer would make sure the correct explanation of the problem is written, some unnecessary trips out to the car with the wrong tools would be avoided. For instance if the car doesn't crank over at all, I would need to take my jump box with me. And if the car cranked over but didn't start, I would want my scan tool and some starting fluid.

A car that cranks over but doesn't start, in many cases will be due to a bad fuel pump, a broken timing belt, an inoperative cam sensor or crank sensor. The first step in diagnosing a no start is to scan for codes with a code reader or scan tool. Approximately 40% of the cars towed in that I worked on in the last 25 years, either had a bad fuel pump or the fuel gage read incorrectly and the car was just out of fuel. Yes, some people actually have their cars towed in when all they need is some gas! If the fuel gage indicates that there is fuel in the tank, most people will assume naturally that the car does have fuel. But if the fuel sending unit or gage is off slightly, the car's gas tank could actually be empty. One of the easiest ways to check for a fuel pump related problem is to spray a little starting fluid into the air intake while trying to start the car. If the car starts momentarily, then there's a good chance the fuel pump is not working or the car is out of gas. You can also listen for the fuel pump's humming sound when the key is first turned on. Also if a inoperative fuel pump is suspected, a good technician will always check to verify there is power and ground being supplied to the pump, to eliminate the possibility of a bad relay or electrical issue. Fuel pressure can be checked with a pressure gage and if there is pressure, pulse can be checked at the fuel injectors in several ways including the most common, with the use of noid lights. If the injectors don't have pulse the engine won't start.

Broken timing belts also caused about 40% of the tow ins in my experience. A broken timing belt can fail causing the car to seem as if it ran out of fuel while driving. When trying to start the car though, the engine typically spins over faster than normal due to the engine having low compression from the timing being off and the valves being open at the wrong time. If the timing belt breaks, there sometimes could be a code set in the vehicles ECU (Electronic Control Unit) for no signal from the cam sensor. If this code is present, you can sometimes check to see if the cam is moving by removing the oil cap while someone engages the starter. Also the upper timing cover can be removed to allow access to the timing belt for inspection. Most of the time when a timing belt breaks the teeth (or cogs) are stripped down at the crank pulley the bottom sprocket preventing the belt from turning the camshaft.

Lack of pulse from the fuel injectors as stated before can prevent a car from running. This brings me to the third most common cause of a car that cranks over but doesn't start, approximately 20% of the tow ins that I worked on had the following problem. Many times the cause of lack of pulse is because of a bad cam or crank sensor. If the computer doesn't see either the crank or the cam turning, the fuel injectors won't be commanded to pulse. One quick indication that a cam or crank sensor may be bad is to check for RPM movement on the tachometer (if equipped) when trying to start the engine. If you have a scan tool not just a code reader, the cam and crank sensor data can be checked on many vehicles by accessing the appropriate screen. If no revolutions are shown when attempting to start the car, the respective sensor could be bad.

Obviously there are many vehicle makes, with different ignition and fuel delivery systems that may require a service manual to properly diagnose or to delve deeper. But with the above tips and tricks that I've used over the years you'll be checking the most likely causes, that hopefully will send you in the right direction.

Detailing a Car

When it comes to detailing a car, there are some basic tips you need to know in order to do it correctly. You will want a spray cleaner for the inside of your car. Follow the manufacturer's label on all of your automobile detailing products and get a decent white wall cleaner. Detailing is the difference between just having a clean car and a car that really pops and shines. Detailing is exactly what it says; paying attention to small details that make the difference between a good looking car and a great looking car.

So, where do you start? The easiest place to start is in the interior so that you can get all the dust and dirt out prior to working on the outside. If you do it in reverse, then all the hard work you put on the exterior of your car will be marred by the dust, dirt and grime coming from the interior. You'll want to start with vacuum cleaning, including the dash and rear parcel shelf. Then move onto the front seats - fore and aft - to get rid of all the accumulated dirt and that fortune in loose change you've lost over time. Get yourself a good spray cleaner and work on any stains applying solution and then blotting with paper towels or a dry cloth. After applying, repeat as necessary going over the area with the damp sponge before final blotting on carpeting or upholstery.

Next, you're going to want to see if there are any burn marks or holes in your carpeting. If you find some take a razor blade and scissors and cut out a small patch from a hidden spot of the carpeting, like up underneath the seat. Cement it in place using a water resistant glue and finally blend in the repair by brushing the nap.

Floor mats are next. If they are rubber, apply something that does not leave a slippery finish or sticky mess, for obvious reasons. You want to clean all of the interior hard surfaces with a damp cloth and an all-purpose cleaner like Simply Green or Simply Orange which you will dilute 10 to 1. If your seats are vinyl covered, get a conditioner that's made for that material in your local automobile store. Be sure and avoid products that result in a high gloss, slippery surface, because you don't want your passengers to feel like they're on a roller coaster while riding in your car. If you're upholstery is leather, get a leather conditioner. Never use a vinyl product on leather.

Pay special attention to your dashboard. There are crevices and bezels that you might not be able to get to with your cleaning rag. You can use a can of compressed air to blow the dust and dirt from in those areas. The can of air can be found at your local computer store. Another idea is to use cotton swabs. Be sure and pay close attention to the cleaning products you use on your dashboard. If your dashboard has a flat finish, avoid using a product that leaves a shiny gloss.

Clean out the air vents with cotton swabs and make them brighter. I sprang on some final over her dressing or just the touch of an accent spray. Spread onto a soft towel, if you're going to apply it to wood trim. These few details should get you started on detailing your car. Once you've finished the interior, you can move on to the exterior for a fabulous looking car that neighbors will adore.

Remote Car Starters

James Bond had it, now you want it. A remote car starter allows a driver to turn-on the ignition of his car from a distance. Sure, maybe it's not on your 007 wristwatch, but there are a number of solutions out there from companies like Crimestopper, Audiovox, Directed, Viper, and Python.

So what can you do with these remote engine starters? The primary purpose for remote starters is convenience. You could warm up your car that is out in frigid weather while you're staying warm indoors. You could also do the same in blistering hot weather; remotely turn-on your engine with the A/C switch on so that it's nice and cool by the time you get in. Another purpose for remote ignition is security reasons. Whether you're a male or a female, it's always nice to have your car ready to go whenever you are, especially when you are in shady parts of town. And of course, the last purpose to having remote starters is the show-off factor because it completes the true wow-element of your vehicle. After all, who doesn't want to show off like James Bond?

There are a few things to be mindful of. Virtually every remote car start kit includes vehicle security and of course with that, they include some kind of remote. The pricing on these remote start security systems depend mostly on the abilities of the remote. I know it sounds crazy, but it's the truth. In essence, the price is based upon how smart your system is.

The more buttons the remote has, the more money it'll cost, because the more buttons usually mean more programmable functions such as keyless entry, arm/disarm, delayed starts, valet mode, and multi-tone activation. Another consideration is the ability for the system to communicate 2-way rather than just the typical 1-way. Think of your remote as your pager. 2-Way remotes allow the system to not only be controlled remotely by the user but also communicate to the user any disturbance to the car. This is crucial if you're dining out or shopping at the mall and your car is out of your sight. 2-Way remotes typically features a small LCD display to tell you exactly what's going on and they usually have obvious indicators to represent different things on your car that is disturbed (if your car is equipped with the sensors). Some systems indicate glass-breakage indicators or vicinity alarms to specify exact disturbances.

Another crucial aspect to consider is of course the range of your remote. Please remember that just because a product say that they feature a max range of 6000ft. means it's always going to be consistently 6000ft. Conditions would have to be perfect to reach that kind of consistency and range. The longest range I've heard anyone had for these systems is around 1500ft. that's about of a mile. This is great range for you since you could walk around for mile and not have to worry about your precious car.

Lastly, remember that once you wire your vehicle up for remote ignition, it is possible for thieves to steal your remote's code and frequency allowing them to impersonate you through their remote and driving off with your car. Though the possibility of this is unlikely, it is still possible. Some systems feature code-hopping countermeasures, allowing your system to change codes frequently to prevent thieves from finding the same exact code your system use for arming and disarming the system-giving an astronomically impossible combination of codes to be deciphered. Again with this added feature, expect the price to be higher.

In summary, I would suggest that you find a remote car starter system that is adequate for your needs. If you do want features, keep in mind that for each additional feature, there will be additional costs. I hope I have helped you in your decision making process. Good luck!

Car Rentals

Renting a car is a tough thing. Well, it can be. But, it doesn't have to be. To find a great deal, or even just a reliable car, you will want to do a little research. Save some extra cash in that pocket!

We used to believe it was simple to rent a car. All you had to do was get off your plane and head to the lonely car rental place right next door. Not so any more. There is competition everywhere. This is good news to you, though. Competition, even with car rentals, means that you will pay off with deals in the long run.

To make this happen, you may have to do your homework. Booking a car rental ahead of time is very wise. In fact, you should not wait until the last minute. Anyone looking for a car rental immediately is more likely to pay higher price then someone who booked their rental a month or even a week in advance. Take the time to investigate the different car rental companies. Compare what they offer and their prices. Never take the first offer either. Get your facts and quotes from several companies first.

You can find car rentals online as well as in your phone book. There is no shortage of companies to talk to. Car rental companies have a lot to offer as well. Consider what you will use the car rental for before you decide on one. Do you really need that car with all the added amenities? Or, do you really just need something to get you back and forth? Making wise decisions regarding your choice in car rentals can save you a nice bit of cash.

Is This My Car Or a Space Shuttle?

How car electronics change your daily life, on the road and in the auto shop

You are driving to a friend's house and the airbag light is flashing: Then you remember that it always does this when you have your dog Max in the back.

You grab the door handle to open the door and your car alarm goes off, everyone is looking at you and you feel like a thief.

You approach a stop sign and your car suddenly goes into low idle and stalls.

You unlock your car and all the windows go down. This only happens on cold winter trips.

Weird stuff happens with your car and you don't have any idea why. Gone are the days when Do-It-Yourself could solve a lot of car issues. Today's vehicles are much more like spaceships or at least like a plane. In fact, your car may contain 60-80 separate little computers providing more computing power than the 1982 Airbus A310 had or the Apollo Moon Lander!

Because modern cars are more like complex electronically controlled spaceships, their insides do not much resemble those of cars twenty years ago. Instead of things like a carburetor you'll find lots of wires under your car's hood, connecting sensors to the computers and giving status on the car's vital signs. Electronics enable unprecedented functionality such as hybrid power or safety functions like airbags, ABS or stability control, just to name a few. Maintenance jobs like a tune-up used to mean getting the engine's performance back on track. Today embedded software takes care of it by checking constantly thousands of sensor signals compensating for worn out spark plugs, clogged filters, etc. The so-called limp-home function lets you drive on limited power when your engine is in trouble. In the old days this might have meant a break down.

If your car is as complex as a spaceship and makes you feel helpless whenever it plays weird tricks on you, perhaps you'd like a space-age preventive maintenance solution. How about piloting like a real spaceship pilot and not to worry about inexplicable malfunctions? That is what professionals in auto shops take care of. Not only do they inspect, service and replace the still remaining 5,000 moving parts; they also understand the electronics' side effects, run complex diagnostic and test sequences in order to fix and avoid malfunctions. Since electronics mask emerging problems so there is no detectable sign for you until much later, technicians in your shop need to find the root cause early. When too late you might have a need for replacing expensive parts. A speed sensor going bad and compensated by the software might start burning your transmission oil long before the engine light goes on. Ask the experts in your shop about space-age maintenance for your vehicle. Let them provide you with the right program to meet your service priorities (And don't forget to quiz them about Max and the airbag light).

PS: Max is indeed the cause for the flashing airbag light. The airbag software detected the occupied seat. The person seems to move very erratically though (Max is jumping around in the back seat), which is not what the software expects humans would do. So it concludes a defect wire as cause and triggers the airbag light to flash.

PPS: Did you experience great and/or weird things with your car? Leave a comment in the section below. I'd like to help you exploring what is possible through electronics.

Why Won't My Car Start?

Have you ever had your car just "die" on you, you try to start it and it just will not start. You end up calling a tow truck and paying those big tow bills, then to make matters worse the technician at the shoptells you that it will cost hundreds of dollars to make it run again,is that true? Maybe maybe not.

I own and work as a diagnostics Tech here at Ace Automotive in Lakewood Wa and I can tell you from experience if some people knew just a little more about their cars workings they could save a whole lotta money. Say for instance you are driving at night wipers and heater ,lights and radio on you notice that the headlights keep getting dimmer and dimmer soon the vehicle "dies" and now won't start the most likely cause is the alternator has failed, not the battery because if the battery failed the alternator would still keep power to the vehicle until you turned it off then it would not restart.

You are driving for a while and the car just "shuts off" all the instrument lights come on but when you try to start it it just turns over but will not start. First it depends what kind of car this happend to if it was an import like say Honda, acura, toyota, subaru, nissan, mitubishi, the engine timing belt may have broken (if it's been more that 60,000 miles since you changed it last time) you should be able to tell if when you try to start the engine it sounds different like its just "freewheeling" faster than normal, this is bad cause most of the import cars mentioned will do expensive damage to the engine when the timing belt breaks.

If your vehicle is a domestic one chevy ford ect, be patient wait a little bit maybe 30-45 min and try to start it if it starts hurray! But it will "die" again once it's hot enough again, be sure to tell your local tech this valuable information and ask for all parts they replace to repair your vehicle to let them know you know something about the car too.

Car Care Products

There are hundreds of car-care and auto-detailing products in the market today but what do you really need and what can you do without? Read on and decide for yourself.

When used properly, car waxes can take the dullness off your cars exterior paint and make it look brand new. Experts recommend that you wax at least two times a year or more if you have an older car. Doing this prevents dirt build up and keeps your car looking new even after years of use.

Do not confuse car polish with a car wax these are two very different chemicals, and each one can make very important contributions to your cars upkeep. Car polish can deep clean your cars finish with its mild abrasive properties. A good car polish has the ability to minimize paint defects by deflecting light. Be careful about buying car polishes, though; because there are cheap varieties those leave residues, causing your car paint to become dull. Invest in car polish that is easy to wipe off and buff.

There are very useful Teflon-based additives available in the market today that help keep engine oil in tiptop shape, even if you forget to change it for a long period of time. These additives are proven to extend engine life, and experts recommend that car owners use them every 50,000 miles.

It is not enough to just keep your cars exterior clean more importantly, the interior should be cleansed and maintained, too. Take your car for a yearly full detailing or buy the right products and scrub her clean yourself. Proper shampooing cleans out all of the dirt that has built up over time on your dashboard, sidings, ceiling, and seats. Be careful not to overdo it, though, because too much scrubbing can cause leather or fabric colors to fade.

Car Salesman Reveals Negotiating Tips

Shopping for a used car? Searching for a great deal? Have you ever bought something and wondered later if you got a deal or got taken? Shopping for a used car is perhaps the most nerve racking process. Nobody likes it. Everyone wants to find a bargain when they shop for a used car and many people have no idea how to do it. I have worked in the auto industry for over 10 years. I will show you how to get a great deal.

If you are reading this article then you have a computer. Use your computer to do some basic research. You can use sites like Ebay, Auto Trader, Cars to find prices for the kind of car you are shopping for. You can also use Kelly Blue Book or NADA. Just enter the kind of car you want into the search bar. Most sites rank the results by price. Try and form an average price or price range you can expect to pay for the car you are shopping for. When you are evaluating whether a particular car is a good or great deal you take your average price and adjust it to the condition of the car you are looking at. Take into account mileage and condition. Lower mileage cars sell for higher prices. You can use 15,000 miles as an average per year to figure if the car you are looking at is considered high or low mileage.

Say your looking at a 2003 model. That means the car is 5 years old and the average mileage would be 75000 miles. Take into account if the owner lives in the city or county. City drivers drive less and country drivers drive more. You must also access the overall mechanical and cosmetic condition of the car. Does it need repairs? How much will they cost? What is the condition of the paint, carpets seats? Form an estimate of needed repairs and cosmetic work needing to be done and then adjust up or done from the price range you found earlier. You are now an educated consumer. A car dealers worst nightmare! You can use what you learned at home to negotiate a great deal by applying some common sense. Most car dealers know that consumers have no idea what the value of a used car is worth. Tell the dealer or individual what you think the value of the car is and why you feel that way. This is called negotiating!

If you want to find a bargain you have to work a little harder. Where do you find a bargain? Just ask the dealer. Many times the dealer has a car that he has had for a while. The dealer will want to sell the car at a substantial discount to free up some cash. You have to find out why he has had it awhile. Many times it was never detailed or serviced properly. If this is the case offer him a very low price. You already know the price range from your research. If it is a car that you have not researched then go home and do the research. The same is true from an individual. He or she may just be tired of the whole "Sell it yourself" process and be willing to let their car go cheap. Look for these type of deals and you will end up with a bargain. You can also consider a higher than average mileage car if you do not drive a lot. Higher mileage cars sell at a discount. Lets say a 2 year old car has 40,000 miles. This is 10,000 or so higher than average. It will sell for $1000's less. Now lets say you drive 10,000 per year and keep it 2 years. The car will have 40,000 plus 20,000 or 60,000 miles. The average at this time would be 60,000. A 4 year old car should have 60,000 miles. Just what your car has on it. You bought it as a high mileage car and trade it in as a average mileage car. You just made money!

These are just two ways to get a great deal when shopping for a used car. Do the research, apply some common sense, use a few insider secrets and you will get a bargain.

Electric Car Conversion Kit - How to Build Your Own EV at Home

Electric car conversion kits are growing in popularity. Many car owners are starting to realize that converting their vehicles to run on electricity can save them a lot of money on gas and help the environment at the same time.

By building your own electric car you will:

  1. Slash your gas costs to zero.
  2. Get massive IRS refunds for driving an environmentally-friendly vehicle.
  3. Start enjoying a smoother, quitter ride.
  4. Stop emitting greenhouse gas and toxic fumes and help save the earth.

To turn a vehicle into an EV, you will need to take out the internal combustion engine and replace it with the electric motor.

Some other parts you need to install are: rechargeable batteries, power controller and power conductors, which can be found in any auto-shop. The best cars to retrofit are light weight vehicles with space for batteries. Even if you have little mechanical skills, you can still turn your car to run on electricity, if you follow a set of detailed plans.

After the conversion you will be able to drive 100 - 200 miles on a single charge and travel at about 55 mph. The technology to run an automobile on electricity has been proven to work, but up until now it was too expensive to use.

Paying a mechanic to turn an existing vehicle into an electric car can cost $3,000-$8,000. Fortunately recently many diy electric car conversion manuals have been introduced to the market, which offer step-by-step instructions on how to easily convert any vehicle to run on electric power and save tons of money on gas. This way the conversion will cost you less than $300(parts included).

Do you want to completely eliminate your gas bill?

Chose the best Electric Car Conversion Kit and build your very own Electric Vehicle!

Car Stereo Repair

Have you ever experienced problems with getting your car speakers to work? Since I think many of us car owners have experienced this problem, I will provide this description of how to diagnose the problem of silent speakers and also give you some hints on how to fix it. Whether you are familiar with car stereo repair or not, this might help you. If it doesn't, contact a dealer who can do an auto stereo repair or search for vehicle stereo repair help online. If your stereo speakers don't work, then try

  • checking the speakers to see if they are disconnected
  • checking all fuses that are related to the auto speakers
  • tightening the butt connectors to the speakers
  • replacing all or some of the butt connectors

If your speakers are still not working, I recommend that you test the auto speakers that don't work directly:

  • Disconnect each speaker that doesn't work from the cars wires and do the test below, doing one at a time.
  • Use a 9v battery and connect its leads to each auto speaker to be tested for a short moment.

    • Does the speaker have movement?
    • Do you hear the sound usually known as a 'pop' or thump?

If your answers to the questions above are yes, your speaker will probably be able to make sound and it is likely to work.

  • Also note which way the speaker are moving, whether in or out of its frame during the test. Thus you can also determine your auto speakers polarity when connecting them up to the amplifier up in the front.
  • If the cone of your speaker moves out of the basket, the lead going to the positive of the battery is the positive lead of the speaker. If it goes in the opposite direction, the lead hooked to the negative of the battery is positive of your auto speaker.

This speaker direct test has two possible results: Either the speaker is not able to make sound or it is. If the first is the case, your speaker are dead and you must replace it. If the latter is the case, you should

  • run new speaker wires and rewire
  • perform the 'popper' tests to get the polarity correct as described above

Now, if this problem still persists you can at least rest assure that the reason is not your speaker. The reason is probably one of the following: Either it is caused by

  • problems in the deck itself or
  • the connections from the deck.

In this case I recommend that you contact a vehicle stereo repair shop or do a search online to get information about how to fix these problems.

Sophisticated Car Stereos Can Enhance the Joy of Driving

Driving in a sunny day, while jamming to your favorite songs, is a completely different experience as compared to driving in the same sunny day but without having any music whatsoever. What it suggests is that your car audio system has the power to change the whole atmosphere of your car.

In fact, there are some people who believe that the best place to listen to your favorite music is none other than your car. It is the place where you take control over everything. While in a car, you are the boss and your car stereo system will be your slave. Just order your gorgeous slave but pushing the button and it will start amusing you in a remarkable way.

The glorious history of car audio system:

It is a fact that your slave, car audio system, has become quite attractive and gorgeous but that was not the case in past.

Car audio systems were first introduced in twentieth century which was an outcome of American's love of automobile. That was the time when radios started to get popular and that's when someone thought of putting these radios into a car.

In the beginning, these were AM radios with tubes for the radio, driver, preamp and output sections. There was nothing too flashy about them, in fact, they were quite bulky. Although these radios were pretty basic but the major problem with them was about the fragility of tubes.

With the passage of time, new additions were made to car radios and the introduction of an additional speaker was a good step for sure. The addition of "wonderbar" was impressive as well. The stage after this was the introduction of HI-Fi where more accessories were added to car audio system like a woofer to increase bass, a crossover to blend more than one speaker, and so on.

Improvement in looks and a major problem:

Gradually, companies started to make more attractive and appealing audio systems for cars. That was the start of a new era as car audio systems had started to transform into more sophisticated electronic equipment. But, that was the time when another problem cropped up. With changing in car audio systems, more and more thieves started to target them. It was the mid 1980s, when there was an overwhelming increase in the car stereo theft incidents. It made engineers to think on different lines and then came stereo systems with codes which were useless without entering the right code.

After this specific time, there was no looking back and car audio industry evolved in an outstanding pace. It is only due to this evolution that now you can find a number of car stereos companies producing CD players which don't only provide you a safe and secure way to listen to music but also helps you to enjoy the crispness of sound.

The quality of sound is important for car audio systems and that's why you must purchase the latest car stereo with enhanced features. To find one of the latest car stereos along with amplifiers, speakers and more, visit the website.

Remote Control Car Setup Tips

Setting up a remote control car is as much a science as it is an art, the physics behind rc cars is exactly the same as the physics that governs real cars, if you know how setup changes in a race car work, you already know how to setup a remote control car.

The problem that most people have with setting up RC cars is that when you make a change in one area it always has a knock-on effect on the rest of your settings, setups are very much a balancing act

To start with I'll concentrate on the basics of handling, over steer and under steer. The physics behind this is pretty simple, if you turn into a corner the center of gravity will move in what ever direction you were initially travelling. Your tires via friction push back with (hopefully) an equal amount of force. When your wheels lose traction and start to slide the energy that was being turned into heat in your tires gets released as inertial energy in the original direction of travel. With cars, both back and front don't break traction equally, this creates either under steer or over steer, which is how we describe the experience the driver has under these conditions.

Under steer

Under steer is when the front of the car loses traction while the rear of the car still has grip on the tar, the effect is that the nose of the car drifts away from the direction you are turning, turning harder makes it worse, the only thing you can really do is back off the throttle and bleed off speed.

Over Steer

Over steer is the opposite of under steer, and in most cases it's best to have a little of this. The front of the car keeps traction while the rear lets go. One of the key benefits is that you can typically corner much faster in a car that has some over steer

Over steer / Under steer Tuning tips

There are a lot of ways to tune the handling or your radio controlled car, the easiest is to adjust the front and rear shocks. While there are a lot of options with springs, different oils and all sorts we are just going to concentrate on the basics, most decent shocks have adjustments, either with spacers or bolts that let you adjust how hard or soft the shocks are.

As far as maximum and minimum stiffness goes, make sure that the bottom of your car doesn't scrape the ground, and on the other end make sure it doesn't bounce and leave the asphalt, apart from that you need to find the setup that matches your driving style, most people get winning setups off the internet and try to learn to drive them, mind you this is a great starting point, and most championship winners post their setup sheets

Shock Stiffness guide

Stiffen in front = increasing under steer or reducing over steer
Stiffen in rear = increasing over steer or reducing under steer

You may be wondering why one setting makes two changes, this is because it's all about balance, you could for example setup your rc car by only every changing the rear stiffness, but you would find that when you got the perfect amount of over steer under braking the car would then be uncontrollable during the exit of the corner. It's all about balance,

Another thing to keep in mind is that when you change the shocks you also change the roll of the car, this the the chassis of the car moving with the inertia, in effect pushing the front tires into the road during breaking and the rear during acceleration. If your shocks are too soft then the transfer might dig your front wheels in and lift the rear enough to make you car spin out, or lose steering under throttle, you have to find the right balance

More to come...

He first got interested in Remote Control several years ago, since then it has grown into an obsession, now a successful RC Racer and Drifter he shares his knowledge with the world. Futuristic Car Design

What is in a car? And what is especially in car design? Perhaps you hanker for the newest, latest, sleekest look or perhaps you simply think that futuristic looks are plain odd. Design can also be fuel efficient.

Car design teams such as the one in Mercedes-Benz often look for new designs for next-generation appeal. This time around, it is all about fuel efficiency- and new sci-fi looks. Mercedes-Benz took its inspiration from something a little odd this time around- the tropical box fish.

The car is rather small, and has the sci-fi feel to it. The four cylinder gas-saving machine will return an amazing 84 miles per gallon at the constant speed of 54 miles per hour. This could be revolutionary as far as gas efficiency goes in new cars- a milestone in the industry. It can achieve the speed of 62 miles per hour in around 8 seconds- not bad at all.

The code-named Bionic wont be coming to a dealership near you, but it will heavily influence the design of future cars to come. The concept car was mainly for show, and to demonstrate new complicated fuel cell designs that save you money at the gas station.

No on is for sure when we will see changes such as this, but coming from Mercedes-Benz, it isnt going to be cheap. Even at four cylinders- this car itself would cost much more than the average car. Expect 5 years at the latest to enjoy the gas-saving technology.

Let's see if other manufacturers will follow suit.

How to Make Car Reservations

Car reservations is one of the factors you should consider when traveling. To avoid the hassle in making car reservations you should already have a checklist beforehand on what questions to inquire when making a reservation. This will clear out your expectations and liabilities and the company's assurance on the service that they will provide. Car reservations are often done personally or over a telephone. But with the onset of the internet, a car reservation is also made available online. Before reserving a car, think very well what do you need and what are the things that you need to secure. Here are some points in reserving a car.

Decide on the exact date and time that you will need to get the car. Moreover, you should also decide when you will be returning the car. This will indicate the duration that you will be using the car services. Also ask if you can make extension on the duration of car rental in case of emergencies and the lead time needed to inform the agency for the extension.
Value for you money. As we all value our hard earned money, inquire if they accept certain affiliation privileges that you might have to avail discounts or coupons.

Decide what car to rent for the car reservations. You will need to quantify your luggage and how many passengers that might be possible to ride with you. Check out the car facilities like air conditioning, the availability of air bags and so forth.

When making car reservations, inquire if they accept credit cards. It is best to secure your financial transactions so you can bring extra money in case you have to pay in cash. You also need to learn about extra charges like drop off charges, extension charges and other overhead costs.

Check the availability of insurance policy. Will the car reservation company have their own insurance policy for the rental or you will need to use your own insurance policy. Ask what are the coverage of the insurance. You should also check if the car that you will be renting is properly insured by the car reservations company.

Check currency policy. If you are reserving a car to another country, ask which currency you will use for the payment. Moreover, ask where is the specific location of the booking agency in another country in case of emergencies. Also inquire about telephone numbers and other contact details.

Car reservations can easily be done especially online with a single click. Nonetheless, you should secure your transactions online. Make sure that you are on a credible car reservations company site. This can be made through car reservations referral from your friends and other travel agencies. Know how to make a good deal. Do not settle for one car reservations site but spend time to do some canvassing of the prices online.

Make sure that you get the best possible deal in car reservations. Secure not only your travel but also your security by making proper car reservations online.

Car Repossession

Car repossession occurs when a person falls behind on their car payments and the creditor reclaims the car. The basic idea behind car repossession is that the car has been bought on a hire purchase or loan agreement.

In case you can no longer proceed with the payment and the repossession of a car is the alternative, then you should become familiar with what your rights and responsibilities are in case you have not done it already. You should know it is illegitimate to hide the vehicle and avoid the repossession of a car you bought using a loan and, if that is however done, you will have to pay a fine and, in some cases, deal with criminal charges. Still, avoiding the repossession of a car can be done by hiding it in case of a court order. Otherwise you might be forced by the contract you signed with the loaner or by law to allow the repossession as it is.

If the repossession of a car you have not fully paid yet has already taken place, then you can still get your car back. It is true that getting it back depends on the lender and the contract you signed with him. If you are told by the loaning company that getting the car back is unacceptable, then you ought to check with the rules and laws of the state you live in to make sure that you are not misinformed by the company or the creditor.

State laws differ but generally, if you are behind on car payments, the creditor may take possession of your car without notice. Unless the contract gives a grace period, the car can be repossessed if you are only a day late. All you need to know are the legal procedures through which you can hinder the auctioning of your car.

All in all, the repossession of a car is quite a problematic business and you as credit consumer should do everything possible to avoid this measure if you can. In some cases, the creditor may even require you to pay for the expenses of the repossession, so it can turn out to be a loss from several points of view.

Car Stereo IPod

Car stereo ipod is a great device to have especially when one is traveling as it proves to be a great companion keeping one wide awake all along. For one to have a great travel, they will need to have an ipod and the transmitter that comes long. One might choose to have the whole ipod kit but it might be a bother and one might not use all accessories that come along with the kit.

At such an instance, one might only need to carry the ipod itself and the car stereo Fm transmitter. Some transmitters come as a package with a charger meaning that is one does not need to have a charger if they use such a two in one transmitter with a charger. In this case, one avoids the hullabaloo of carrying the speakers, cables, ear phones and all other accessories.

With the car stereo ipod, one is left with the option of listening to the music of their choice and one can even sing along as they travel. This makes the journey interesting as it takes away the boredom. One does not have to listen to the FM music as they can listen to what they love on their collection stored in the ipod.

The FM stations also come in handy especially in the wee hours of the night when they need some human companion. One therefore listens to the radio stations through the use of the car stereo FM transmitter. It's always great to buy an entire kit along with an ipod box that keeps the ipod intact as one is driving. A car stereo ipod is a great device that one should invest in though it might be costly.

Car Insurance No Claims Bonus Explained

No Claims Bonus is a term used to describe the number of years you have had Car Insurance without making a claim. Put simply, if you have had Car Insurance for 4 years and you have not made a claim in that time, then you have 4 years No Claims Bonus. No Claim Bonus is probably the single biggest factor affecting the cost of your Car Insurance premium. Every year that goes by without you making a claim is another year of No Claims Bonus.

Generally speaking, the more No Claims Bonus years you have, the cheaper your premium will be for the car you need to insure. This is because Car Insurance companies can see that your history regarding making any accident claim is a good one.

When changing provider, Car Insurance companies will usually ask you to prove your No Claims Bonus in the form of a renewal notice or a letter from your current Car Insurance company. If you have several years of No Claims Bonus but then make a claim, the Car Insurance company will usually apply it's rules of how much to knock back your No Claims Bonus Years. Some companies such as Accept Direct http://www.acceptdirect.co.uk offer to protect your No Claims Bonus for an extra fee during the quotation process. Having full no claims bonus can also entitle you up to 75% discount on your car insurance premium.

Important Car Theft Prevention

Most people will have experienced or know someone who has experienced some sort of car theft, whether it be a car break-in resulting in loss of expensive items or the car itself being stolen. All car owners must do all they can to help secure their cars so that it is either very difficult for a thief to break into a car or so your security measures act as a deterrent to the thief from even attempting to steal from your car. Vehicle crime currently stands at around 1.7 million per year, which the authorities claim is down from previous years. The biggest motivation for a person to do all they can to secure their vehicle is that most people use their car every day and really cannot do without it, also they are expensive things to retrieve and repair if they have been damaged in a crime related incident. In this article you will find many hints and tips which should be adhered to by all drivers in order to secure your vehicle and possessions.

The first thing to do is keep all valuables such as satellite navigation systems, loose change, CD radio fascias, mobile phones and laptops out of view, either underneath covers, underneath seats or in a looked boot, if people can't see anything of real value in the car, chances are they will not have a reason to break into your car. Thieves are attracted to these kinds of items because they are small so easy to steal and easy to sell on. Whatever you do don't make it easy for the average thief to enter your car, make sure all doors are securely locked, the boot is locked and that all windows are fully close, even the slightest gap could enable a person to insert an instrument and open your window.

Most modern cars come with an alarm and immobiliser fitted as standard, if your car does not have these features, it could be worthwhile investing in them. An alarm can act as a great deterrent and attract unwanted attention towards the thief. An immobiliser basically stops the car from starting its engine unless the correct code is entered. Make sure you have a sticker which you can place on the window which highlights the safety features installed on your car, this acts as a great deterrent. Having these safety features can have other benefits such as brining down the price of your insurance because there is a less likelihood of your car being broken into. There are also further simple measures you can take such as purchasing a steering wheel lock and wheel locking nuts to stop your expensive alloy wheels from being stolen.

The future looks very bright for car security measures, already there are cars being developed which incorporate biometric technology such as finger print recognition and iris recognition as an anti-theft measure, basically it works by only letting verified drivers start the car. Also there is technology already in circulation which lets you know via SMS text messaging if your car is being broken into. There is no doubt that these technologies and more will be introduced into the mass market in order to stamp out crime waves of car thefts.

Winter Car Maintenance

Careful attention to your winter car maintenance can help to ensure that your vehicle does what you want it to, when you want it to, whatever freezing temperatures the winter brings or stormy weather conditions. A well-maintained car is a lot less likely to let you down and leave you in the grip of a cold and icy emergency or breakdown.

Tyres

A regular spot of winter car maintenance should take in the tyres, not only for their depth of tread, but just as importantly, their correct pressure. Too low, and they'll wear out more quickly and need the engine to consume more fuel; too high and you could lose the grip that they give on icy roads.

Battery

Obviously, the battery is critical to getting you started, yet an old and weakened battery can lose as much as one third of its power in icy conditions, leaving you in danger of being unable to start the car or taking much longer to do so.

Lubrication

As the cold weather persists it could well be worth considering changing the engine oil to one with a lower than normal viscosity. Such "thinner" oil will help the car start more easily but can also help to reduce friction and wear by getting more quickly to the areas of the engine that need the lubrication.

Wipers

Snow, rain, ice and general dirt from the road can soon wear down the rubber of the wiper blades, so it's worth checking whether they still do a good job. Clear visibility through the window is even more important in hazardous road conditions.

Staying warm

It's not only the occupants who will feel the chill on icy mornings. A cold engine should be allowed to warm up on idle for a minute or two before pulling away, so that the oil has had a chance to reach those parts of the engine where it's most needed.

For warmth on the inside, you and your passengers will appreciate a heating system that's working properly. This is not only for the comfort of passengers, of course, since an effective heater and defroster is important for keeping the windows free from misting up and icing over again, thus ensuring that good visibility is maintained at all times.

Anti-freeze

Since it's winter time it probably shouldn't need saying, but it's surprising how many people fail to check whether the anti-freeze is at the correct concentration. It's unlikely these days that the engine will become frozen solid, but the correct amount of anti-freeze actually helps to keep the engine running at the correct temperature and helps to protect the engine when it needs to be started from an especially icy start.

Winter car maintenance

As you can see, routine winter car maintenance needn't be time consuming or expensive. It doesn't require a major overhaul, but rather, regular attention to a handful of otherwise minor details. A little attention could make the world of difference between a vehicle that's safe to drive in all that the winter might throw at us, and one that's not.

How To Prevent Car Accidents

Many people die in road accidents in America every year. Most of the road accidents comprise of passenger car accidents. Drivers are mostly at fault in majority of these car accidents, while few environmental, and road conditions are the other reasons.

It is essential for car owners and drivers to be extremely careful while driving, in order to prevent the many car accidents occurring every year. There are a lot of standard driving rules that need to be followed to reduce the probability of an accident. If each and every driver followed these road rules, the number of accidents would be considerably reduced.

The cars need to be serviced and checked for any problems every month. Maintaining a proper schedule for car servicing is the most basic of all preventive measures. Furthermore drivers need to check the front and rear mirrors of the car, as proper mirrors give a clear view of the front and back of the vehicle, thereby avoiding many fatal accidents.

It's a well-known fact that drinking and driving is deadly. Whenever drivers are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, their judgment decreases and they can no longer drive properly. Drinking and driving is a punishable offence in the US. For that matter operation of any machinery under the influence of liquor is strictly prohibited.

Drivers need to maintain proper a distance between two cars to avoid rear end collisions. Drivers should also not attempt to reach for items in the car while driving. There is a chance the driver could lose control of the vehicle and cause a serious accident. Road rage is not good, and drivers need to maintain their cool while driving. Thus, a lot of car accidents can be prevented if the drivers follow the rules of the road.

The Long Process of Car Accidents

If you see the numbers on how many car accidents occur every year, you might want to sell your car and get a bike. Is our inability to follow the rules what causes that huge number of car accidents every year and the number seem to increase year by year. I don't like to be the bearer of bad news but chances are that you or a close relative will be involved in a car accident.

Insurance is mandatory in almost the whole country, that is good, but dealing with an insurance company is not as funny Jerry Seinfeld and will for sure be a very long process and the best you can do is to have a legal professional giving you a hand in the process. Filing an accident insurance claim can be a complicated process.

The main problem is that your insurance will fight for every single dime; they might even ignore your claim (that is why they have a lot of money!). They will minimize you claim, they will delay as possible and if you are not stressed enough after being involved in a car accident, be sure you will be after dealing with the insurance company.

If you don't have enough problems this far, chances are that the accident resulted in personal injuries and you should know that there are many lawyers specialized in this type of cases and they can provide the assistance you need. If the accidents has caused by the negligence or deliberate actions of another, you have a case, but finding a real legal professional turn to be another complication.

Yes, there are many lawyers, and many will claim to be experienced personal injury or car accident lawyers, but you should trust lawyers that can demonstrate a solid background in this type of cases since personal injury or car accidents claims use to be complex cases and overall, long processes.

Smuggling Goods in a Car

Smuggling goods in a car is both risky and stupid. If you are caught smuggling drugs, stolen goods or anything that isn't legitimate, you will be subject to both heavy fines and prison time. There are extremely heavy penalties for smuggling. If you are driving, you will want to make sure that anyone traveling with you knows that there can be no illegal substances transported.

Prohibited goods include:

Unlicensed drugs like cocaine, cannabis, amphetamines, barbiturates, heroin, LSD and MDMA or Ecstasy.

Offensive and unlicensed weapons including knives, swords, knuckle-dusters and some martial arts swords and equipment are prohibited.

Counterfeit or pirated, fake goods like illegal DVDs, fake identification materials and the like.

All in that lot of things that shouldn't be smuggled in a car include materials that require a license:
Firearms, explosives, and ammunition; which also includes fireworks where they aren't legal, gas canisters, and electric shock devices like stun guns except where legal are also prohibited.
Smuggling goods in a car can be risky if the person driving the car or the automobile looks suspicious. However, aside from entering or leaving the United States, most cars won't be searched as they travel around. This makes cars ideal for smuggling contraband.

When it comes to smuggling across state lines, there has been heated debate about whether or not it should be stopped and how to stop it at the border. Some people consider smuggling a criminal offense, but when it comes to immigrants, the debate rages. All kinds of smuggling by car goes on at the border, however, not just illegal immigrants. Things like drugs, firearms and other things are coming across the border as Mexican drug lords make millions of dollars on the drug trade in the United States.

Stopping the smuggling by car methods is hard, and while there are a host of border patrols, smugglers continue to find very creative ways to hide illegal products in the car, as well as use people as mules to carry it across the border and more. While drugs are rampant in border crossing, there is more attention given to illegal immigration these days than ever before.

Smuggling goods in cars is not new. People have been smuggling contraband as far back as when there were horse and buggy transportation. People don't like to be told what to do, and when something is deemed illegal, there will always be smuggling goods in a car, by plane and on foot. Perhaps, the most detrimental form of smuggling is drug trafficking.

Because many drugs are illegal in most parts of the world, the illegal drug trade has taken to creating cars that have specially designed compartments to hold the illegal drugs. This has caused the government to come out with drug sniffing dogs and other equipment in order to detect and arrest the criminals. While this slows down drugs from entering a country, it by no means stops it.

If there's money involved, people will find all types of creative methods to use in order to get their stuff to where they need it to be. That includes everything from drugs to people.

Xenon bulbs emit a longer and wider range light with only 40% less electrical current. They also emit a whiter and more luminous color which is more natural to the human eye. The color emulates what the sun emits, which allows for better visibility during the night, raining days and snowing days etc.

Car HID Lights includes almost every kinds of car models online. So you can simply select the collect xenon lights and set them up for your vehicle based on the model information. Each model contains a wide range of color temperatures (e.g. 4300K, 6000K, 8000K, 10,000K, 12,000K and 30,000K) which can meet your personalized needs.
