Car Stereo Sub Woofers

When I listen to music, I like to imagine that the singer is right next to me with his team and instruments, giving me an exclusive performance. If you are like me, then you need to get a car stereo sub woofers. This is installed separately as it is not part of the stereo system that is in your car at the time of purchase.

A wide variety of sub woofers are currently available to suit different preferences in music. People who enjoy deep bass should acquire big sub woofers. However, one should ensure that the sub woofers do not take up too much space in their car as it compromises the quality of sound. The depth of one's pocket in terms of how much money one is willing to part with is another factor to keep in mind before settling on a particular car stereo sub woofer.

It is advisable to use amplifiers together with car stereo sub woofers because they empower the sub woofers. Certain precautions should be taken when using amplifiers especially if the RMS power of the amplifier is more than that of the sub woofer, as it may cause the woofer to blow. When using the amplifier with more than one channel, make sure that it can be bridged as this doubles the power of one channel.

Car stereo sub woofers and amplifiers can be purchased over the Internet and from dealers of electronic goods worldwide. Before buying, one should test the sensitivity and frequency response to ascertain that they are without fault. Placement of sub woofers depends on the space available, though it is common to put them in an enclosure trunk and place them in side panels or under the seats. Enjoy your music!

The Presidential State Car

The Presidential State Car in the United States is the car that carries the President of the United States, his family, his staff and secret service agents. It is the official state car of the President of the United States. The traditional vehicle is a limousine and is the ground version of Air Force One. It is termed Cadillac One. The current vehicle used is a 2005 Cadillac DTS (DeVille Touring Sedan) that is armored to protect the President. The first time this vehicle was used was on January 20, 2005 during the second inauguration of President George W. Bush and the secret service refers to the vehicle as 'the beast.'

The vehicle's windows do not open, it is equipped with run flat tires, it is fitted with military grade armor 5 inches thick, and five antennas mounted to the trunk. The inside has a fluorescent light system because the windows are tinted and do not allow much natural light inside. The vehicle can seat seven people, including the President. There is a console mounted communications system in the front of the vehicle. The vehicle, when transported to foreign countries, is airlifted by a United States Air Force C-17 Globemaster III. When the President visits a foreign country, the Presidential flag that flies opposite the United States flag on the front of the car is replaced with the flag of the country he is visiting at the time.

There are similar limousines that are operated by the United States government that help to transport VIP guests, visiting heads of government, and heads of state. When President Elect Barack Obama is inaugurated on January 20, 2009, a new vehicle will be used to transport Obama and his family. It is manufactured by GM and will not have a specific model name. The vehicle will be called the '2009 Cadillac Presidential Limousine.'

The Presidential State Car travels in the Presidential Motorcade, which consists of 35 other vehicles, when traveling out of town. The limousine that the President travels in is maintained by the Secret Service while the motorcade support vehicles are maintained by the White House Military Office. In the motorcade there are two Chevrolet Suburbans that the President might also travel in instead of the limousine. Each of the vehicles has the Presidential seals on the sides.

The very first President to travel in an automobile was President William McKinley. The first government owned vehicle was a Stanley Steamer and it was used during President Theodore Roosevelt's presidency. President William Howard Taft was the first President to use a vehicle that was stored in the White House garage. The first President to ride in a Cadillac was President Woodrow Wilson during a victory parade for World War I. President Warren Harding was the first President to ride in an automobile to his inauguration. The car was a Packard Twin-Six. The Presidential State Car is comparable, for its safety purposes, to the Popemobile. The Popemobile protects the Pope, or the highest living leader of the Catholic Church.

Car Rental Insurance

Wherever in the world you are planning to hire a car, you can be certain that the cost of car rental insurance will be at least as much as the hire of the vehicle itself. The insurance is vital, of course, to indemnify the hirer not only against third party liabilities but other damage to the vehicle or its theft, resulting in the loss of its use. With the car rental insurance bill absorbing such a high proportion of the cost, therefore, it is good news to discover that those costs can be considerably reduced - by as much as a half - by arranging all the necessary insurance separately, in advance, whether the proposed rental will be in the UK or elsewhere in the world.

Taking advantage of such cost reductions is simply a question of buying all the necessary insurance cover in advance from a company specialising in this area. Separating the two forms of business in this way allows the customer to concentrate on the car rental firm for doing what it does best - renting cars - and leaving the car rental insurance to the experts in the field of motor insurance.

For example, whether the car hire is being arranged in the UK, Europe or North America, the quoted rate is likely to include a relatively large proportion to cover third party liabilities and accidental damage to the vehicle (generally termed a Collision Damage Waiver) and theft. In most parts of the world (with the exception of the United States), the Collision Damage Waiver will include an excess, which is the uninsured element of any accidental damage to the vehicle and which therefore remains the responsibility of the hirer him or herself.

If an excess is to be applied, this should be made clear by the rental company, together with the level of risk to be borne by the hirer. This is important, since it represents the first part to be paid against any damage incurred and is typically as much as 600 - and in some instances can be as high as 1,000. In order to mitigate such personal risk on the part of the hirer, the rental company will generally offer an optional excess insurance policy to cover the whole or part of the excess. In this way, it would be possible to reduce the hirer's personal liability from the standard 600, for example, to 100 or even to nil.

A more cost-effective way of insuring this excess - and indeed the whole of the car rental insurance - however, can be secured by buying the cover entirely separately from the rental agreement. Specialist, independent insurance providers can arrange the whole of the cover required, either on a single-hire basis or on an annual basis, to cover multiple rental agreements throughout the year. Such cover tends to be considerably cheaper - up to 50% less - than that arranged by the rental company, yet can provide even more extensive protection than the rental company's insurance.

Typical areas of car rental insurance cover, for example, include full Collision Damage Waiver (providing protection against loss, damage, theft or loss of use of the hire car); Supplemental Liability Insurance (extending third party liability limits up to a typical US$1 million - and certainly to be recommended if the rental agreement is for a car in the United States or Canada; cover for damage to the rental vehicle's roof, underside, types and windows (usually excluded from the Collision Damage Waiver); compensation for accidents involving uninsured or hit-and-run third parties; cover for lost keys; and cover for any further excess on the hire car.

Public Auto Auctions - The Secret of the $1,000 Car Worth $10,000

Are you ready to get your next car for 10% of the value? There is a way to do this with public auto auctions and you can use these tips to help you get the vehicle of your dreams for a fraction of the cost.

First, you have to find the right type of auctions. The best ones are those that are not heavily advertised and have a ton of vehicles. It is always good if you are bidding against less people for more vehicles. The ones that seem to have the best deals are any seized property auctions for vehicles. These are very rarely advertised, happen all the time, and you can get great cars, trucks, and SUVs for incredible prices.

Second, you need to have a strategy and know what you are after. Since this is where the used car dealers go to get their vehicles you need to know that you will be up against people that have been doing this for quite some time. Attend a few auctions before you ever bid so that you can get a feel for how everything will work and you can put together a strategy to help you get where you are trying to go.

Third, it is good to know a good mechanic if you are not one. Having a mechanic that will go to the auction with you, or at least before hand will help you know if you are going to be bidding on a good vehicle or not. You should always expect to do some routine maintenance with any used vehicle, but you don't want to get stuck with something that is just no good.

Last, you need to have a step by step plan for public auto auctions and you need to have access to the best auctions. This is how I was able to get a 2 year old mustang gt for under $1,000. Having a solid plan and access to the right auctions is crucial in this process and will save you a ton of cash.

Auto Theft and Protecting Your Car

In the ever decreasing economy, the number of car thefts and other crimes is beginning to rise on a gradual basis but rise nonetheless. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released a report not too long ago detailing when cars are most likely to be stolen and what days your car is least likely to be stolen. With the holiday season rapidly approaching, people need to double check what is inside their car and whether or not their car is locked before they walk away from it in a large parking lot.

Thieves are more prone to target cars in store parking lots that have visible packages inside them that appear to be holiday gifts. Why? Because more than likely those packages contain expensive gifts such as IPODs, MP3 players, CD players, DVD players, cell phones, digital cameras, laptops and video game systems. The thieves will not only get away with a new vehicle that they can strip and sell parts to chop shops but they now have expensive items they can keep for themselves or turn around and sell on the street.

Always, always make sure your car is locked and any packages inside are hidden from view. Place them in the trunk or if the trunk is full, make sure they cannot be seen by the naked eye if they are inside the car. The report released recently by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states that your car is least likely to be stolen on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

The report also warns that thieves do not take a holiday so do not let your guard down on those days. Even though the stats show that those three days are the lightest in stolen vehicle volume, it can still happen. Always lock your car doors; even if you are just running into the local supermarket to grab a gallon milk or a carton of ice cream. Those few minutes can change your life. You could come outside and find that your car is gone.

Preventing auto theft can be done and it can't be done. You can prevent auto theft by locking your doors, closing your windows, having a security system on the car, and not keeping expensive items in the car when you are not in it. If you have a GPS system or an IPOD, do not leave them on the seat, the dashboard, or on a console for everyone walking by the vehicle to see plain as day. Lock them in the glove box or carry them with you. Also, make sure your car has a car alarm system. This can alert people in the area to any attempted thefts.

In the sense that car thefts cannot be prevented; you can only do so much. If you keep expensive items out of sight, have a car alarm, and lock your doors, if thieves want to steal your car they will. It's plain and simple; if they need a car, they will find a way to steal one, even if it is locked and the windows are closed tight.

Car CD Player

Car CD players are basically music playing devices that are installed into your car's dashboard. Most types of CD players can read CD-RW as well as CD-R. Many others are capable of playing formats like WMA and MP3.

There are roughly 3 types of car CD players. There is the built-in model that comes with the car. These types are hooked to the battery and run off the vehicle's power supply. Next is the portable player. These ones can be switched between cars and also enables easier upgrading. Most of them use batteries although some might alternate between batteries and power source of the car itself. Then there is the CD changer. This type enables you to load up multiple CDs, playing one disc at a time.

Those intending to buy a car CD players might want to keep these tips in mind. Firstly, try and find one that plays a wider variety of formats. This way, you get to listen to a greater range of your music collection. Potential buyers might also want to think about the overall look of the player. Do they need a removable face plate? Something that blends into the dash? Would you like features like Seek/Scan or tuner sensitivity or would you prefer something more basic? It is also advisable to test the player before you buy. And to make the most of your new player, it is an equally good idea to ensure your brand new player is installed properly into your car dash.

German Car Tuning

Tuning a Ferrari is a dare!

There are no boundaries in the German car tuning today, the studios "Mansori" are going crazy pumping up sport cars to the levels of insanity. The results are more than impressive! Take a look at already the monster "Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano" and dare to fix it up under the hood. Now lets see, we can add a mechanical supercharge to this 6-liter baby and see how it runs. Now tuned "Stallone" (in translation - "The Flaming Stallion") reaches 720 hp, it's a good 100 more than the serial model, and the maximum speed is now 340 km / h. This "wind" will blow the driver till 100km/h in only 3.7 seconds. A great deal of enthusiasm was put into exterior and salon.

630 "hourses" for one "stallion"!

Porsche 911 tuned by atelier "Hannmann" got the name "Porsche Stallion". If you have never seen an Arab Horse leap, here is an alternative for you to drive: 630hp -Porsche 911 Turbo with a legal doping from Hamann. The first thing that catches your attention is an unusually low roof line. It reduces the aerodynamic losses resulting in gains in the top speed and of course....no no, - who cares about fuel consumption here!

How do you mount this "stallion"...now lets open the door first... hmmm, that's easy and just what I wanted for my car - you can now "hop in" This eccentric decision was surely not impress a Lamborghini owner but it suits so good this Porsche.

The exterior is not just beautiful, the stylish body kit will also tame the "stallion" on high speeds and those are more than just high: 359km/h and 3,3sec till 100km/h. An advanced turbo supercharge was needed here to reach these characteristics plus a sports air filter and a new performance exhaust system.

Why Car Maintenance is Key

A car without maintenance is like an office without cleaner. You leave it as it is and it accumulates all the dust and dirt. After some time, you might wonder what's wrong with your office, as everything seems so ugly. Then you realize the toilet stinks and later get clogged. That is when you realize it is because no one cleans it. When no one cleans it, it becomes dirty and damage in the long run. You should always make it a point that the care is taken care of in the right way, which helps a great deal over a period of time.

Same thing happens to your car if you don't care about your car. You need to send your car to the service center and have a mechanic do a check up on anything that is broken or damaged. The brakes, oil filter and everything else are important. In case of any damaged or broken parts, the mechanic will inform you of what to be changed and the estimation of the cost. Imagine going on a long driving trip in your car and something wrong happened along the way. You are going to be in deep trouble. If the care is not taken proper care of then you can land up in trouble in the most unexpected time.

If you think of saving money, paying for car maintenance is definitely cheaper than after having a car accident or total car breakdown. For that reason alone, you should get a car check up every month or at least every three months to make sure that your car is up and running. There is nothing more important than your own safety. A good car owner should also wash the car every weekend, clean up the interior to get rid of trash and unnecessary stuff. Other than that, check the battery to make sure it is functioning or add in the fluid for cooling. This is to avoid car breakdown and also to ensure a longer lasting car in your life. Have a car is a privilege but you need to be responsible as well. The car should always be kept in a good shape so nothing should go wrong in this and it will never give you a problem over a period time or when you are on the move in a long journey.

Pedal Car Restoration

Restoring a vintage pedal car is a great way to bring your stylish collectible back to its former glory. It is a time consuming, yet very rewarding, process. Restoration can mean everything from replacing a missing hubcap to completely overhauling the entire car. This, of course, will depend on the original condition, and your goals. Here's a guide to restoration for collectors of these wonderful toys.

First, find a pedal car to restore. Of course, you can restore your own childhood plaything. Restoring your childhood toy can be a great way to preserve fond memories. However, you can also purchase a vintage original specifically to restore. If you are purchasing a vintage car, look for a few things that will make your restoration job easier. If the body is straight with no damage, this will save you a lot of work. Consider the amount of restoration needed when buying a project car.

Then, carefully evaluate the condition of your pedal car. Look for areas that are worn or damaged. You should disassemble the car completely so that you can examine the interior parts as well. Make sure that you do not damage any nuts, bolts, or other mounting hardware in the process of disassembling the car.

Pedal car restoration for collectors can range from very simple projects to an elaborate undertaking. If your car is in relatively good condition, you may simply need to do a little work to preserve it. If your car only needs thorough cleaning and minor repairs, your work will be quite simple. Clean each part, make any necessary repairs, and then reassemble your project. However, if your car has rusted spots, worn paint, and missing pieces, you will have quite a lot of work ahead of you if you want to perform a full restoration.

Now, find any parts that you need to make your project car complete. It will be quite difficult to find the missing pieces of some models although if you're lucky, yours will be one of the more popular ones, and spare parts will be available. There are several online vendors of reproduction parts, or you may be able to find a part from a pedal car that is otherwise in poor condition. If all else fails, you may be able to craft a replacement.

Finally, prepare the car to be rebuilt. Strip and sand old paint and rust from the body, remove dents, weld cracks and holes, and repair rusted areas. Then send it out to be repainted inside and out, and send accessory parts to be chrome plated. Finally, install any replacement parts you have ordered, and put the pedal car back together. Be sure to fit it together once before the final assembly, to make sure that all of the parts will fit together correctly.

Pedal car restoration involves everything from replacing missing parts to refinishing the chassis or overhauling the drive mechanism. However, try to keep as much of the original equipment as possible, as this will add to the value of the finished result. Restoration is a balance of preserving the original pedal car and improving its display value. Restoring your dream collectible can be very rewarding as you watch it turn from a rusty old car to a beautiful, shiny pedal car worthy of display.

Classic Pedal Cars specializes in reproduction steel pedal cars that will last for years.

Car Insurance - Speeding Rates

Getting tickets for speeding is not good for any driver. If you are a driver and you like driving fast, you will not only see yourself paying huge fines to speed regulatory authorities but you will also find out that insurance companies will slam you with high rates. The obvious reason for this is that you are classified as a high risk client and in a situation like this, your age does not count.

It does not matter whether you were in an accident or not, the police is always around with tickets for speed driving offenders. The number of tickets you get for over speeding is a very vital piece of information for auto insurance companies. These companies will note the tickets and use them to calculate your rates. The more tickets you have, the more rates you pay.

If you are a driver below 25 years, it will be wise for you to keep to speed limits stipulated for your car and the roads you ply. Remember that the manufacturers of your car have taken into consideration the capacity of the car and the environment in which the car will be driven before placing speed limits. It is also for your own safety and the safety of other road users.

Car insurance companies investigate every customer. If you have been ticketed before and deny it in the form you filled, the insurance companies will eventually find out and refuse to provide you coverage. The danger with a record like this is that other car insurance companies will shut their doors on you also.

The Key to Understanding Car Speakers

Understanding car audio seems confusing at first. However, it is all a matter of learning. When you get a grip on the basic types of speakers and terminology, it is something that you will know for life. The first thing you need to decide is whether you just want basic speakers or an elaborate setup. The more elaborate you go, the more it will cost and the more information you will need to have. Make a list of any questions you have. Your speaker salesman or online dealer will be able to assist you.

There are many different types of speakers on the market. Not every speaker is suited to every vehicle type and purpose. This means you will have to weed through them in order to discover the absolute best option for your car audio requirements. Sometimes searching by the car make and model will help turn up some great websites that can steer you in the right direction.

If you just want basic speakers for your car then you will benefit from using a coaxial speaker. This is the most common type of speaker available and is often listed as being two-way, three-way or more. The coaxial speaker is perfect for everyday use and is a mid-range speaker with a tweeter.

A component system is made up of various types of speakers that can be purchased either together or separately. A subwoofer is necessary for an increase in bass sound whereas separate tweeters will increase high sounds. It really all depends on what you need. Pay close attention to the speakers you are replacing to identify the problem areas.

Horns are a high end product that is usually only required for those seeking the best sound possible regardless of price. Horns do the job of tweeters since they produce both high and mid-range sound. However, they are installed under the dash in order to direct the sound. This is not something every driver will be keen on doing.

The size and shape of speakers does make a difference in sound as well. Round speakers tend to emit better sound due to the shape of the cone. The cone is essential for the sound itself as well as longevity. If this type of detail matters to you, inspect all potential speakers carefully for the best cone material.

Subwoofers are a popular and common speaker upgrade sought by many audio enthusiasts. A good subwoofer will increase the pumping bass sound that many music lovers crave. Subwoofers are enclosed in a box and some of them are even designed to go inside the trunk of the car. They range in price but like any speaker, the higher end models will prove to be better in quality.

Before making a large financial investment on a speaker system, be sure that it is best suited to your needs as well as to your vehicle. Some speakers are designed specifically for a certain type of car. Keep this in mind when you do your speaker shopping. Understanding speakers starts with knowing what you want in sound.

Homemade Hydrogen Fuel Car - How to Make Hydrogen Fuel Cells

Did you know that there is a way to reduce your gas consumption by at least 50%?
By burning hydrogen as a fuel you will be able to increase gas mileage and save lots of money on gas.
Hydrogen cars are gaining much popularity these days.
Hydrogen technology is nothing new. On the contrary, it has been in existence for many decades. It has been patented dozens of times by several scientists, in the last century. This knowledge has been suppressed, because oil companies would be terribly affected if we were to stop using gasoline as a fuel. Now that this technology has been revealed, it is estimated that hydrogen fuel cells will completely replace gasoline in the next 50 years.

At this time, you can't power your engine totally on hydrogen, but you can simply use it as a supplement to gasoline. By making only small modification in your car's engine, your car will burn gas more efficiently and you will be able to save $100's on gas every month.

If you want to increase fuel efficiency but can't afford to buy a hybrid car, then converting your vehicle to burn hydrogen as a fuel is the best solution for you.

Why Should Convert You Car To Run On Hydrogen?

  1. You will be able to almost double gas mileage and save several thousands of dollars on gas every year.
  2. Your engine will produce less harmful exhaust emissions, which contribute to the increase of global warming.
  3. You will increase your engine's power and performance because of the more efficient burn of gas.
  4. You will reduce your engine's wear and tear and cut down on the expenses of mechanics bills and repairs.

Hydrogen Generators are based on a simple process called electrolysis. This process uses an electrical current derived from your car's battery to separate water into two main components (Hydrogen and Oxygen). The outcome of electrolysis is a gas called HHO or Brown's gas, a fuel 3 times more powerful than gasoline. HHO is inserted into the intake manifold and gets mixed with gasoline, in order to increase fuel efficiency.

There are two ways of converting your existing car to run on Hydrogen. You could buy a ready-made hydrogen fuel system or you download a DIY guide. Unfortunately, the cost of a ready-made hydrogen car system can be prohibitive.

Assembling and installing your own Hydrogen Generator is very easy, if you follow the instructions of a reliable hydrogen car kit. You don't have to be an expert mechanic.

Do you want to save hundreds of dollars on gas every month?

Click Here to find out exactly how you can Convert Your Car to Use Hydrogen as a Fuel and stop worrying about the rising gas prices.

How Long is the Car Batteries Life?

Batteries are made with a series of grids or plates and these are coated with a lead paste, the materials may differ when used on the positive and negative plates. It is when these are immersed in electrolyte, which is diluted sulphuric acid, that the electrons build up a charge on these plates.

When you turn the key in your car, it is the electrons that flow freely through the cables to the starter and all of the electrical system in the car. How many of you have tried to start a car at some time or another with a flat battery, or even worse one that is not as charged up as it should be.

It is the winter months especially when you have to make sure that your battery is in tiptop condition and good working order. It's these months that batteries have to provide you with maximum power to start your car. Sometimes this can be restricted because of the low temperatures that can occur, and depending of course, as to what area or region you live.

It is worth remembering that the batteries power can become restricted because of any change in the weather for example your battery will only have 40% of its power when you turn your ignition key if the temperature drops below 40c when it actually needs two to three times as much in order for your car to start.

It is always essential for everybody to ensure that your battery is fully charged irrespective of the weather. Having a fully charged battery that will deliver all the power to your car is necessary in the prevention of any mishaps or embarrassing breakdowns.

The difference in a new fully charged battery is that the plate material has no problem in generating all the electrons that are necessary. It is as the battery ages that a lot of the plate material will slowly sulphate or harden. When this starts to happen, it becomes less capable of either producing or holding a charge.

There can often be a difference of opinion as to the actual life of the battery, there are those that say a battery should last approximately five years, this is normally the time when you might experience starting problems when turning your ignition on.

Then it has been known for batteries to last as long as seven years and in some cases longer, normally it is five years or a little over before you may start experiencing any problems. If it goes for a lot longer over this time then you can call that a bonus.

There are a number of things that can happen that will reduce battery life, and some of these things you may be able to avoid by following a simple checklist once a week. One occurrence that can happen is if your battery is sitting loosely, this will cause it vibrate and rattle around eventually cracking material on the plates. This will eventually loosen falling into the bottom of your batteries case.

This in time will cause a problem because the batteries surface area will not produce the electricity needed to function properly, and any loose material could fall in between a positive and negative plate that will cause them to short out and to cease working. That is why when purchasing a battery always go for the good quality one, these come with special sleeves built in around the plates preventing any damage from loose material bridging the two plates.

A common mistake made by most people at some time or other is leaving the car lights on, an easy thing to do in the winter months especially when all you want to do is park the car and go indoors. If the lights are left on until the battery goes dead, this will no doubt cause damage.

Once the battery is discharged, the plate material will start to harden, and it is because of this that the portion of plate affected won't accept when trying to charge it again. The best solution if possible is if your battery has discharged, you must try to charge it back up as soon as possible. It has been known that if a battery completely discharges more than four times, reducing its capacity, then the only answer is to recycle it and purchase a new battery.

Car Auctions - Pointers on Finding Auto Auctions

Car auctions in the Magic City of Miami are events that a lot of people are getting hooked into. This goes especially true if the individual is an enthusiast of different car models and makes. If you're within Miami-Dade County, the best benefit that you can get from this type of auction is that you are given the chance to buy a great-performing car at a price that is less than its original price in auto stores.

For Miami car dealers, this is their way of getting rid of their old stocks as new automobiles keep coming in. Setting up an auction is one way for them to boost their commissions and sales. Car dealers in Miami also find car auctions as a way for them to circulate their inventory by taking unsold cars to auctions and offer them to high-paying bidders.

Tips on Locating Car Auctions in Miami

There are different ways for you to find auto auctions within Miami, Florida:

- You can look into the classified ads section of your local newspaper.
- You can check out listings or announcements from posts or bulletins.
- Your local government offices can provide you with information on where the next auction in Miami is going to be held.
- Local car dealers put up some of their car inventory for auction.
- You can also find a government car auction, especially those that have been seized or repossessed.
- Look up online sites for auctions.

Find Auctions in Miami over the Internet or over the Airwaves

Perhaps one of the most effective tools that you can use to search for vehicle auctions in Miami is the Internet. If you know websites that offer information regarding this type of information, you can simply go to that certain site. But if you are not familiar with car websites, you can search for used cars auctions through search engines. As easy as typing in the phrase within search boxes, you will be provided with thousands of results in seconds. Aside from search engines and car websites, you can also check out e-commerce sites. eBay is one of these sites where you can find different makes and models of secondhand cars that are being put up for sale or bidding. You can also tune in to the City of Miami's municipal government radio station, City of Miami 1680 AM, while traveling within the city limits.

Be Sure of Your Choice

One thing that you have to remember about car auction information is that this is never complete. Bulletin announcements or classified listings on automobile auctions do not include information regarding the cars that are put up for sale. This means that you have no idea whether you are getting a great bargain or not. To ensure the quality of the car, make sure that you bring a car expert along with you each time you participate in car auctions in Miami.

Make new discoveries and learn more handy tips about public car auctions such as where to find such auctions near your home and how to get great bargains for your car deals.

Finding Car Parts

Whether you are a backyard mechanic looking for inexpensive car parts to fill your customers' orders, or you own a body shop, or even a chain of body shops, you need to find car parts. However, car parts can be very expensive and can really bring down your profit margin. Especially, as a backyard mechanic, if you are fixing cars for family and friends with a pre-set expectation of a price range, expensive car parts can steal the few dollars you might expect to make for your trouble.

EBay can help you find inexpensive car parts. Using eBay, or some other online auction, you will likely be able to find most of the parts you're looking for at a reasonable cost. And it's a lot of fun. Here's how it works:

You'll need to sign up with eBay and with Paypal, since many people who post on eBay require payment through Paypal. It doesn't cost anything to sign up with either one of these.

Go onto eBay and search for the parts you're looking for. You might be able to find them on the main site at eBay.com (or eBay.ca if you live in Canada) or you can go directly to eBay motors, which is an automotive-specific sister site to eBay.

You can browse by the make and model of vehicle, and you may even find an entire vehicle that you can use for parts if need be.

Once you have found the kind of vehicle parts you're looking for, you'll want to make sure that you are purchasing the auto parts from a reputable seller. You can do this by looking at their feedback, which eBay posts from previous buyers. You'll also want to make sure that they ship to your area. For example, if you are buying auto parts from the US, but you live in Canada, you'll need to make sure that they ship to Canada.

Once you are satisfied that you are purchasing from a reputable buyer and that they will deliver the parts to you, you can place a bid by clicking on the "bid" button.

Part of the fun of purchasing on eBay is to watch the auction draw to a close. If someone bids higher than you, you will need to re-bid on it again if you want another chance to own it.

When the auction closes and you find that you have won, you will need to make arrangements with the seller for payment and shipping. Payment is easy with Paypal, all you need is the seller's e-mail address. Once your payment has been processed, the seller will send you the car part you bought.

The main advantage of using eBay is that it is a fun way to get parts affordably. The main disadvantage is the time factor: For example, you could bid on a part and lose it moments before the auction closes. Still, for the amount of money you could save, this might be a worthwhile option.

Electric Car Conversion From a Gas Vehicle

The car, by and large, has been indispensable. However, the environment has been adversely affected by the gas engine. A car that ran on an all electric motor would solve a lot of our present pollution problems. This is just one of the options available to us.

The benefits of running your car on electricity are numerous. That is one of the options available to people today. There are quite a few benefits for running your car on electricity.

This article explores some of the major benefits of converting your car to run on electricity:

Protecting the environment: Global warming is one of the most ecological threats facing us today. The fumes emitted from gas engines would be eliminated if you were running on an electric vehicle. There are no air pollutants emitted when using an electric motor.

Environmental pollution would be reduced if you were driving an electric powered vehicle. Risks from pollution, smoke and noise would be greatly reduced.

Save our resources: Crude oil is considered a natural resource. Depending on who you talk to, it is widely known that crude oil is being depleted. By converting your gas engine to an electric motor would help us to keep the supply that we now have.

Spend less:

Overall, it's a small investment to change your gas engine over to an electric motor. It is a one-time expenditure that will pay for itself over time. Electric motors have less moving parts so the car will last a long time.

Once you invest on the conversion, you will find that you do not have to care for where and when to fill up for gas. Again, possessing an electric powered car will cut down your expenses on gas bills. Moreover, maintenance-costs of electrical cars are less if compared to those running on gas.

A gas engine is estimated to be about 5 times more costly that an electrical motor vehicle.

The handling characteristics of an electrical car are far easier. A gas engine is very complicated in it's engineering. Thus, it is easier to drive.

No Loss in Speed: Do not think that running an electric-powered car will bring down your speed. Practically, electric cars have an average speed ranging from 60-80 miles per hour. Thus, owning an electrical car will help you enjoy the speeds of a car that is run on gas.

A Noise-free Drive: One of the biggest benefits of possessing an electrical car is enjoying a peaceful, noise-free ride. Electric cars are comparatively quieter than the average noisy smog-cougher.

True electric cars have certain disadvantages. The biggest is having a limited driving distance before you have to recharge.

The disadvantages are few compared to the benefits they offer.

The Long Process of Car Accidents

If you see the numbers on how many car accidents occur every year, you might want to sell your car and get a bike. Is our inability to follow the rules what causes that huge number of car accidents every year and the number seem to increase year by year. I don't like to be the bearer of bad news but chances are that you or a close relative will be involved in a car accident.

Insurance is mandatory in almost the whole country, that is good, but dealing with an insurance company is not as funny Jerry Seinfeld and will for sure be a very long process and the best you can do is to have a legal professional giving you a hand in the process. Filing an accident insurance claim can be a complicated process.

The main problem is that your insurance will fight for every single dime; they might even ignore your claim (that is why they have a lot of money!). They will minimize you claim, they will delay as possible and if you are not stressed enough after being involved in a car accident, be sure you will be after dealing with the insurance company.

If you don't have enough problems this far, chances are that the accident resulted in personal injuries and you should know that there are many lawyers specialized in this type of cases and they can provide the assistance you need. If the accidents has caused by the negligence or deliberate actions of another, you have a case, but finding a real legal professional turn to be another complication.

Yes, there are many lawyers, and many will claim to be experienced personal injury or car accident lawyers, but you should trust lawyers that can demonstrate a solid background in this type of cases since personal injury or car accidents claims use to be complex cases and overall, long processes.

Car Total Loss - Determining And Settling The Value Of Your Car!

What is the car total loss process? Once you are in an
accident, the insurance company must inspect the vehicle and determine whether
the damage was substantial enough to declare a complete loss.

Most insurance companies will want to inspect the vehicles
themselves. In most accidents, insurance companies have approved body shops
write estimates and they eventually issue payment based on that estimate.
However, when there is a potential for a car total loss, most insurance
companies want their insurance adjuster to inspect the vehicle.

The reason for this is the conflict of interest that arises
from the arrangement between the insurance company and the body shop. Body shops
are in the business of fixing cars. They have a vested interest in quoting the
repairs so the car can be fixed and not declare it a car total loss.

For all practical purposes this means that you will be
waiting longer. Usually it takes two to three business days for the body shop to
issue a repair estimate. If the claim adjuster or the field representative has
to inspect and write their own estimate, then you will be waiting three to five
more days to get to the location of your car.

Before the adjuster comes out, she/he will submit all
pertinent information about your car (year, make, model, and mileage) to a third
party company. This company usually is CCC
Information Services Group, Inc.
CCC will do a preliminary report to
determine what the value of your car is so the adjuster knows what the insurance
company would be looking to if there is a total loss.

Depending on your state law and the specific insurance
company, there will be a car total loss when the insurance company believes that
the cost to fix the car reaches 70%, 80%, or even 90% of its total value. It is
always a good idea to ask the adjuster what is the threshold they use to
determine a total loss.

When the vehicle is being estimated by the car total loss
adjuster, this individual will be looking at the condition of the vehicle. They
will note how clean the vehicle is, what is the exact mileage, and what
equipment and options the car has. All of this information will be reflected in
the final evaluation of the vehicle.

The adjuster will then submit the inspection report again
to CCC. CCC will send a final report showing comparative prices for the vehicles
in your local market. They will establish what the fair market value of the car
is and what a fair offer of settlement would be. For more information on how to
dispute this report visit:
http://www.auto-insurance-claim-advice.com/car-total-loss-2.html.

Next, the adjuster must determine who the lien holder of
the vehicle is. If you have a car loan, the insurance adjuster must get that
information so they can contact the bank to determine how much is owed. There
are different requirements insurance companies must follow. If the insurance
company you are dealing with is your own (you are claiming the car total loss
against your own insurance company) then they will be bound by the terms of the
policy, which 99% of the time requires them to pay the bank first. If you are
making a total loss against someone elses insurance company (the person that
hit you), then this requirement does not exist (there is no actual policy to be
bound by).

If you have a loan, then the insurance adjuster will
request from the bank a Letter of Guarantee. This letter is an agreement between
the bank and the insurance company that for the payment of x amount, the bank
will release the title of the car to the insurance company directly. This
process usually takes four to five days.

If the amount you owe for the car is less than what the
insurance company will pay for the car total loss, then the insurance company
will pay the loan amount and then issue you a second check directly. If the loan
amount is higher than what the car total loss offer, then you will be upside
down your loan. You will be required to continue making payments even though the
car title will be transferred to the insurance company.

Once you receive payment for your loss, you will be able to
go out and get another car. For more information the total loss process and how
to protect your interest, visit:

Run Your Car on Water Myth Busted

Lately gas prices have been fluctuating like crazy. A few months ago we were paying nearly 5 dollars a gallon for gas, now its back down to less than two bucks a gallon! I mean what happened?

Well since this topic really isn't about the economy as a whole, I am not going to dive into the "why" are gas prices are the way they are. I am going to tell you one thing that happened when gas prices sky rocketed. When gas prices reached the level that they did, eventually people started believing that you could begin to run your car on water and save a lot of money on gas. However not many individuals realized that in order to run your car on water, you needed gas in the car as well, many people referred to this as an HHO Kit.

Once people realized the reality of it, they started to test it out for themselves. The average results ended nearly cutting the average gas bill in half. Yes these things can save you a lot of money, they are not scams, and they can be installed by anyone with a little bit of time, and about a $200 dollar investment. HHO kits may have died down a little because of the decrease in gas prices, but for those who installed this kit a while ago are now paying near to nothing for gas. So not only are you saving money on gas you are also throwing less pollution into the environment while using more through your engine.

90% of all HHO kits are reversible and require no body work.

Are you sick and tired of the rise in gas prices? Are you interested in building your own water powered vehicle? The author has created a review site that provides you with the best DIY Water Conversion Guides on the internet. Start saving money today! - http://waterforgasprograms.info

Types of Car Stereos

Have you ever had a ride in a car that had no music and you felt like you were in a boring world of your own? This should never be the case for you especially if you are planning on covering a long distance. Boredom kills! And your answer to this is a car stereo for your comfy car. Regardless of one's age, music is always like medicine to the soul.

One thing to note is that not all types of car stereos will be relevant for your vehicle and for that reason you need to be really aware of the features that you are looking for in this gadget. Just to mention a few of them, you might want to consider buying one that has a CD deck with a built in pre amp if you are considering using old speakers.

A stereo that is MP3 readable will prove very much helpful if you will constantly need to burn music from your computer and listen to it on your car system. Sub woofers should also prove helpful in enhancing the bass and general quality of the music. Buy them in a complete set for better quality. In addition, it could have a class-D amplifier to go together with the sub woofer.

Do you know what makes some stereos quite expensive and un affordable? Well then, i will tell you. It is the unnecessary features like the animations and screen savers that are not really essential for the device to function. If you can select one that does not have these things and compare it to one that has them, then you will find that you will be able to save a lot of money that can be utilized elsewhere.

The Z Car History

In 1970 it all began, Datsun released a spectacular sports car the 240Z or as known in Japan as the Fairlady Z. This Japanese manufactured vehicle competed with the best of them. It competed with European and American manufactures in not only performance but as well with its high quality sexy appeal. Not only did it beat them on the track and street but it beat them as well when it came to pricing. The 240Z is what opened up the door for the unbeatable world of Japanese imports we have today. The 240Z was the Japanese car that so many people desired. It was so desired that many of the buyers would have been willing to pay far more for it. The 240Z was the breakthrough that started it all for the entire Japanese automobile industry. The stereotypical opinion that Japanese Imports were second best second best suddenly changed and now they are among the best.

Over the next 26 years following the release of the Datsun 240Z, Datsun became Nissan. At that point the Z grew and grew with Nissan producing many models. The 260Z, 280Z, 280ZX, 300ZX all in different styles and trims. After all this the Z car slowly began to disappear from the United States. After being away for a while Nissan decided it was time to bring it back. They came back to America seven years later with the new Z, known as the 350Z. . The Z currently holds the record for the best selling sports cars of all time with well over 1.6 million sold in over the five generations it's been in existence.

The Newest of the Z car, the 350Z is not only good looking, reliable, and a strong performer but it is as well affordable. With its front mounted engine and two doors it is designed to appeal to every ones eyes. The 350Z emerged after the Nissan 300zx was taken off the U.S. Market back in 1996. The 350z resembles the original Z with a much more modern look. The engine within the beast is a VQ35DE, a strong reliable engine that produces mass amounts of torque. The 350z has the typical layout of all Z cars, a long nose with a short back. It is there to perform with the best. After all it does have a history to live up to.

Car Insurance For Teenagers in the UK

In the UK, 38 percent of insurance claims are teenagers between the ages of 17 and 18. 20 percent of claims are young people under 25.

These are one of the factors that make insurance companies see teenagers as a risk, and giving out car insurance to a teenager as a costly affair. For every five drivers, one will claim from insurance within the first year of driving. A large percentage of these will be teenagers, and many of them would have been the cause of accidents (severe or minor). Plus, many teenagers will also be found guilty of drink driving or breaking the law in some way (approximately 35 percent of drink-driving crashes on the road are caused by young people under 25).

Car insurance companies want assurance from teenagers that they are responsible, mature and able to drive properly. Unfortunately, teenagers who are these things tend to suffer because of the teenagers that are not, so insurance companies and various governmental bodies have attempted to find ways in which to let the good drivers benefit.

One of the first things that insurance companies will want to know from a teenager is which car they are driving. If you are a parent you should really consider buying your teenager a modest, affordable and average-performing car if you want to help them out with their insurance premiums. Even if you have got the money to buy them something more expensive, faster or bigger (and you want to spoil them a little and are confident about their maturity) you should rather not. Insurance companies will hike up the prices with a better performing car. Plus, don't buy a car that's modified otherwise you may not find insurance at all.

Insurance companies will probably also be interested in where the car will be parked at night and during the day, as well as how secure the car itself is. Statistics also show that young people are more prone to leave valuable items in the car, such as iPods, MP3 players, sunglasses, laptops or other such items. These only encourage a break-in and should be taken out the car. For these reasons, if the car is parked somewhere safe most of the time and has an alarm system, immobiliser, or any theft deterrents insurance companies will offer lower premiums.

Another thing insurance companies may want to know is how well a teenager is doing at school. This is an interesting one and if a teenager can present good marks in school the insurance company may see them as more responsible and give them better premiums. Beware, though - if the teenager is convicted for speeding or drink-driving any discount received will be lost, and you may be held to keep the insurance contract for a stipulated time period.

Insurance companies may also be interested in whether a teenager has done any driving courses. Driving courses actually come with more advantages than disadvantages - they can achieve lower premiums (sometimes they can give discounts of up to 35 percent) and give more confidence and skill behind the wheel. The only disadvantage is the hassle and the cost, but even some courses like the Pass Plus may be reimbursed to a teenager or their parent, even in part, by the UK government.

What is a Supercar?

When Henry Ford started producing automobiles, a car was, well, a car. And when Henry's cars had lived out their life and were hauled off to a wrecking yard for burial, they were still a car.
Of course, there were convertibles, sedans, sports cars, trucks and racing cars. But if one of these began its life as, say, a convertible, it was still a convertible when its life ended.

Fast-forward to the 1960's and the present day. Yes, we still have convertibles, sedans, sports cars, trucks and racing cars. But we also have cult cars, chick cars, guy cars, muscle cars, classic cars, and super cars. And while there was never any controversy over whether a convertible was a convertible or a sedan was a sedan, there is disagreement over whether a car is or isn't a cult car, chick car, guy car, muscle car, classic car, or super car.

Further, once a convertible always a convertible. But not so with a super car. A car can be a super car in one decade but not in the next. So what characteristics constitute it?

Historically, the term super car was originally used in 1917 in an article in Car and Track about an Alfa Romeo Monza. However, CAR Magazine takes credit for 'coining' the phrase when L. J. K. Setright, a well-known British motor journalist, applied it to the Lamborghini Miura in the 1960's. In the 1970's it was used regularly although there still wasn't total agreement on exactly what it meant. That is still the case today although there are some benchmarks.

A must is high speed. However, the ability to attain ultimate speed levels alone is not sufficient. The car must also have world class handling ability when driven at these speeds. As a result, they usually have rear engine placement and rear wheel drive. This feature places the bulk of the car's weight in the middle of the car and permits intricate maneuvering and precision handling at high speeds.

Another feature is high acceleration. The vehicle should be able to go from 0 to 100 mph in less than seven seconds and from 0 to 200 mph in less than thirty seconds. Added to high performance are the characteristics, which are more difficult to define, and may be the cause of some of the controversy in labeling a supercar.

It should be 'exotic' in appearance and be on the cutting edge of design. Although not a benchmark, one feature that all super autos share is high price which translates to anywhere from a few hundred thousand to around two million dollars.

They can either be factory models or modifications of factory models. An example of a modification is the 1986 Pontiac Trans AM. The Polly Motorsport Company, based in Norway, took this car and modified it so it was 'lightening fast.' The modified Trans AM set a speed record of 407.134 kmph on the Papenburg Test Track in Germany. It could also accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 2.3 seconds. Not only is it now a super car, it is also the fastest street legal car in Europe.

Another automobile that achieved both super and cult status is the Lamborghini Countach, popularized due to its extreme design.

One is not likely to encounter a super car on the way to work during the morning rush hour. In fact, this car is not a daily commuter; it is a toy, albeit a high priced one designed for fun for the elite.

iPod Car Accessories

How many times have you turned on the radio, only to realize that you don't enjoy listening to any of the selected songs playing? This happens often to most of us who listen to the radio, at least to some degree, but with cables that can connect your iPod to your car stereo, you could always listen to your selection of music and not what some other person thinks you'll enjoy. Some of the most popular iPod car accessories are various cables which can connect your iPod to your car. These include various jacks including one that fits into a cassette player, first used to connect a CD player into a cassette drive. Gone are the days when you have to settle for what's playing. Now, you get to choose what you listen to all the time.

Power Up

Another aforementioned iPod car accessory is the car charger. Just plug your iPod into your car's built in lighter and charge it while you're on the go. That's all you have to worry about, so you can take your iPod along even if it has no charge at all, and you'll never have to worry about it running out of power while you're in the car. You can even listen to music while you charge it up, so you'll literally never have to worry about what to listen to again.

Without a car charger for your iPod, every single time that you'd listen to music from your iPod, you'd be using part of its charge, and long trips might drain the iPod completely. However with a charger iPod car accessory, you're able to play music for the entire duration of the trip without using any of its charge, even recharging it if it is low on power, and then using that fully charged battery to listen to music after you've gotten out of the car. To get the most out of your iPod for car rides, check out iPod car accessories.

Muscle Car Series - American Motors Cooperation's AMX

The AMC AMX or "American Motors Experimental" was introduced on Feb. 24, 1968, as a mid 1968 model. It joined the Ford Thunderbird and the Chevrolet Corvette as the only American two seat sports cars. The AMX was based upon a shorten version the four seat AMC Javelin and was produced from 1968 until 1970. After 1970, the two seat AMX was discontinued but the AMX name-plate continued as an option on the Javelin. Both the Javelin and the AMX were among the best handling cars of the era.

Engine choices ranged from a 225 horse powered 290 cubic inch V8 to a 390 cubic inch V8 rated at 315 horsepower. A road test of the 1968 AMX by Car and Driver resulted in a zero to sixty mph time of 6.6 seconds and a quarter mile time of 14.8 seconds at 95 mph. These were very respectable performance numbers.

Culture comforts were not forgotten either. The car was well equipped for the era with reclining bucket seats, carpeting and a faux wood grain interior.

During the three year production run over 19,000 AMX's were produces including 6725 in 1968, 8293 in 1969 and 4116 in 1970. Included in these numbers are some very rare and desirable models, including 52 AMX Super Sports. These cars were basically "legalized" drag racers modified by the Hurst Corporation. The heavily modified engines produce 340 horsepower and we capable of eleven second quarter mile times. Today those cars are both rare and very desirable among collectors. Another collector edition was the "Big Bad" AMX. Less that 1,000 were produced. These AMXs were available with special high impact color themes of orange, blue or green. Today, AMXs with these color themes command a premium in the market place.

The AMX was a bold experiment by the American Motors Corporation. The two seat AMX was never a direct competitor to the Corvette and AMC never clamed it was. However, since it cost significantly less that the Corvette is was a good option for enthusiasts that wanted a two seat performance car on a budget.

Extending a Ford Car Warranty

Once the manufacturer's car warranty expires, it can be a good idea to purchase an extended warranty. Extended warranties can give you that little bit of peace of mind, ensuring that you don't have to worry about breakdown costs.

The cost of repairing a car will depend on the type of car and the extent of the problem. In the UK, the cost of repairing Ford cars tends to be lower than that of repairing those produced by rival manufacturers.

The reason for this is that Ford's are generally popular in the UK, leading to the availability of a lot of cheap spare parts.

Nevertheless, as with any other make of car, having your Ford fail can be annoying and lead to unnecessary expense. This fear of having to pay out for repairs leads many Ford owners to consider extended warranty options.

Taking out an extended warranty means that you shouldn't have to worry about the cost of any repairs during the warranty period.

Many car owners don't realise that there is a wide range of warranty policies available in the UK and that it's not necessary to purchase extended warranties from car retailers.

In the case of Ford vehicles, this means that you are not obliged to purchase extended warranty from a car dealership. Indeed, there has been some suggestion in the press that purchasing extended warranties from car dealerships may not always be the best option.

It's often possible to find alternative options that are cheaper by looking to buy direct from independent car warranty specialists. These independent firms have increasingly been looking to sell direct to consumers.

Many independent car warranty companies now offer the option for you to buy direct online. It's worth comparing their prices and policies to see whether you can get a better deal on extended car warranty.

Car Accident Statistics

Car accident statistics indicate that at least four people involved in car accidents die every hour. These accidents could be due to the fault of the driver, the other driver, or due to a faulty vehicle. The important thing to consider is the number of deaths occurring every day, excluding the people involved in car accidents and sustaining severe personal injuries.

The main causes for car accidents are reckless and negligent driving and alcohol. Teenagers, according to the statistics, cause most car accidents Inexperience coupled with irresponsible behavior and a lack of respect for the safety precautions are the main causes for such a high number of teenage car accidents.

Another reason is the inattentiveness of the driver. Many people talk while driving, which might prove to be fatal because it distracts the driver from the road. Even though hands free mobile phones are the latest craze, the driver would be unable to concentrate on the road while on the phone. The best option would be to park and then take the call, or not take the call at all while driving. These rules have already been implemented in a number of states.

Inattentiveness can also be caused due to alcohol, drugs, or the driver being distracted by music in the car. This might prove to be perilous to other drivers on the road and might result in either distracting them with reckless driving or causing side or rear end collisions due to inattentiveness. Such negligence can even cause pileups in highways and must be avoided at all costs.

Car accidents can be very traumatic, sometimes affecting the person for the rest of their life. Other than the physical injuries that may result due to the accident, mental pressure might also result. A few precautions can eliminate the prospect of accidents on the roads and provide a safety net. It is advised to follow the safety road rules and not drive while on the phone or while on drugs or alcohol.

Choosing Car Paint

Choosing a paint color for your automobile is much more then personal preference. There are some other things that should be taken into account. Some of these things include the type of car that you have, the cost, how a paint color affects your resale value and functionality. We will talk a little bit about each of these things below.

It is important to note that just because you like a color doesn't mean that it will look good on your type of car. Some colors just don't look good on certain types of cars. Now, of course, a lot of this is personal opinion, but it would you hard to imagine a BMW in a bright yellow color, it just wouldn't look good. Another thing to consider is cost. You may be able to secure a certain brand of base coat for around between $200 and $400 a gallon. Some colors are going to be a lot more expensive, and this includes custom and not custom colors. What you will want to do it is choose a color and then visit either an auto shop or paint store and see what your options are in terms of cost, color, partners and sealers.

Resale value is also a very important part of choosing a paint color for your car. If you want to have the best chance of being able to sell your car down the line, it is very important that you don't go with loud or odd colors that most people won't appreciate. So if you're considering re-selling your car down the line, be sure that you don't get trendy with car colors. This will increase your chances that your car will be easy to sell. Go with colors that are timeless.

There are also functional reasons to decide on a certain color. For example, you may want to hide or soften body lines on the car. You may also want a car that doesn't show dirt easily. Wanting your car to look larger or smaller may also determine what color of car you will choose. And while individuals who are car enthusiasts, may consider function more than simply liking a particular color, it should be important to everyone.

So when they are considering purchasing paint for their car, don't simply go with "well, I like this color." You should consider the cost of a particular color, the function of car, the type of car that you have, which may include make, model and body type. You also want to think carefully about how choosing a certain color will affect the resale value of your car. Remember to stay away from trendy colors because they will make it more difficult to resale your car later on. You will not want to have to pay for a new paint job on a car that you are looking to sale and no longer want. Therefore, take some time and put a little thought into the color you want your car painted. What may seem cool and trendy today could be a source of stress when you need to sale it or trade it in, a few years down the line.

EV Kits - What's the Cheapest Way to Build an Electric Car?

People everywhere are interested in electric cars, but they can't afford to buy the ones that are available. So they're building their own by converting their gas-guzzlers into electric vehicles. Electric car conversion kits, or EV kits, are all the rage these days.

Essentially, electric conversion calls for taking out the whole internal combustion engine from your car or truck, and putting in an electric motor instead. You'll also need to install a bank of batteries. The result will be a zero-emissions vehicle that costs pennies per mile to run. It's a lot cheaper than the thousands of dollars you spend every year on your gas-powered car.

Electric cars have superior resell values. Plus, they're also more dependable because the engine contains fewer parts that can fail. In fact, almost all the components in an electric engine don't even move. They'll probably outlast the car's chassis. Practically the only expense is the batteries, which you'll have to change every few years.

There are many different types of EV kits. Some are expensive and come with parts. There are also EV kits that show you how to convert your car for very little money. One even promises that you can do a conversion for as little as $300!

These kits tell you how to get all the tools and parts you need for a conversion, especially the batteries, very cheaply (and sometimes for free). These EV kits are essentially sets of instructions that you can download over the internet. Some come with video instruction as well. They provide complete set-up instructions and step-by-step directions for converting your car. These kits cost approximately $30 - $50.

Your new electric vehicle should be able to travel up to 100 miles on a single charge and go around 50 mph. You'll also be eligible for substantial state and federal rebates for driving an alternatively-fueled vehicle. And, of course, your new car is great for the environment.

Even Detroit is finally jumping on the electric car bandwagon (better late than never, I suppose). But you don't have to wait for them. You can download one of the many EV kits available and start building your own electric car today!

Car Radiator

From the days when Daimler Benz and Ford rolled out the first production cars over a century ago, to the modern day Ferraris and Jaguars, cars have always been one of mans greatest fantasies. The thrill of burning rubber is something everyone at least thinks about sometimes. However, few car owners realize the intricacies that lie under the hood of the car.

A cars engine has several hundred parts that are constantly in motion. Any sort of movement gives rise to friction, which in turn produces heat. In a car, motor oil is pumped throughout the engine block to lubricate the parts, but this is insufficient to overcome the tremendous heat generated. To counter this problem, the radiator is put to use. A car radiator is a heat-exchanging device that keeps the engine cool by getting rid of excess heat through the radiation process.

A cars radiator, usually made of an aluminum tube, is bent into several folds to form a rectangular shape. The purpose of this design is to maximize the surface area. The radiator is filled with a liquid coolant, usually a mixture of water and ethylene glycol. As the heated coolant moves from the engine block to the radiator, it gets cooled because of the aluminum body of the radiator that dissipates the heat. In most cases, an electric fan forces the cool air from outside into the radiator, thus speeding up the cooling process.

The radiator cap, known as a pressure cap, regulates the pressure generated by the steam within the radiator. Once a predetermined level of pressure is reached, the radiator cap gives way to release the excess pressure and avoid any explosion under the cars bonnet.

The car radiator should be well maintained in order to get optimum engine performance. It should be regularly checked for blockages in the path of the coolant that may hamper the cooling process. Apart from this, one should also regularly refill the coolant in order to enjoy a wonderful and safe car ride.

Radiators provides detailed information on Radiators, Car Radiator, Radiator Cover, Automotive Radiator and more. Radiators is affiliated with Patio Heaters.

Should I Bring My Classic Car to a Restoration Shop?

You finally got your dream classic car and can't wait to get on the road. The only problem is your classic beauty needs restoration to get running. Should you bring your classic car to a restoration shop or do it yourself?

Even if you're a master mechanic, fixing up a classic car is tricky. If you want to show the car, often original parts are necessary to maintain "classic" car status. A professional restoration specialist will help you find original and appropriate parts to truly restore your classic ride. Having a professional restoration can mean the difference between showing your car or simply using it for pleasure.

Another issue when restoring classic cars is using the right automotive tools for the job. If you are able to find authentic car parts on your own, will you have the necessary tools to install them? Having a professional on call makes it easier to complete your car once the restoration parts arrive. Restoration specialists have access to all the tools required to complete the job correctly.

Whether you choose to take your classic vehicle to a restoration shop or do it yourself, you still need to keep tools on hand. Older vehicles require ongoing maintenance and regular adjustments. It is easier and less expensive to have tools on hand to make minor adjustments and repairs on your own. A specialty automotive company will sell the garage essentials required to keep your classic engine humming.

If you decide to restore your classic car on your own, have all the original manuals handy to refer to for the right parts and procedures. Exterior and interior detailing are part of restoring your classic vehicle. Your classic car should look beautiful and run flawlessly to challenge the competition.

Another element of classic car restoration is prevention. Special coatings and processes are used on classic cars to prevent rust and keep the vehicle in top shape. Preventative maintenance helps to save you from making major, costly repairs down the road.

Finally, your fluids and tires must also be in perfect order. Classic car tires make the package complete. Top quality tires should be securely mounted on authentic rims for maximum visual appeal. All fluids should be fresh and at the appropriate levels.

There are many elements to consider when restoring a classic truck, hot rod or antique car. Parts must be original or authentic. Certain tools are required to repair classic vehicles. Exterior and interior maintenance must be performed with suitable products that won't harm delicate older materials. Automotive work must be done in a clean area away from direct sunlight. Many classic car owners combine professional restoration with home maintenance to keep their vehicles in optimum condition.

Whether you're looking for the perfect restoration shop or durable automotive tools to do the job yourself, ClassicCars.com has everything you need to create a timeless treasure. Right down to classic car tires all your needs are available online at ClassicCars.com.

This makes the journey interesting as it takes away the boredom. One does not have to listen to the FM music as they can listen to what they love on their collection stored in the ipod.

The FM stations also come in handy especially in the wee hours of the night when they need some human companion. One therefore listens to the radio stations through the use of the car stereo FM transmitter. It's always great to buy an entire kit along with an ipod box that keeps the ipod intact as one is driving. A car stereo ipod is a great device that one should invest in though it might be costly.

Car Hire Abroad

If you're thinking of taking a holiday abroad, one of the main points to consider when deciding on a destination is how easy it is to get around the surrounding destination. If you're going to a resort that is not too far from the airport, your best option would be to make use of the local public transport during your stay, although your travel company will usually provide coaches to get you to your hotel upon arrival at the airport.

If you'd rather explore the resort and the surrounding areas by yourself, car hire could be the best option for you. Hiring a car can provide you with a lot more freedom to explore the attractions and historical sites outside of the resort.

Indeed, with many of the more recognisable sights to be found outside of the main resorts, many like to make use of their rental car and embark on a day of exploration and escape the bustling resorts in order explore more of the local area.

Holiday car hire can also give you the chance of a scenic drive, particularly in coastal and mountainous areas. Whilst the majority of attractions can be found around the resort itself, many tourists are usually eager to explore the smaller tourist attractions, as well as heading to the coast in order to participate in activities such as diving and water sports.

Car rental prices will differ depending on your holiday destination and the size of the vehicle you are looking for. Many companies will have a large selection of vehicles that can be collected from the airport upon arrival at your destination. So whether you're looking to hire a smaller economy car or a people carrier to fit your family and all their luggage into, the variety of choice available means that you can cater a car hire plan to your holiday plans.

Before you hire a car, it's best to check rules and regulations of the country you are travelling to. Some countries have a minimum age limit as high as 25 for car rental, even if the legal age to drive is lower. Also be aware that the rules of the road will differ abroad, so it's best to ensure that you drive safely throughout your excursion.

Going on your holidays and looking for car hire? Search from a range of car rental companies around the world to find a holiday car hire deal that suits your budget.

If the classic car buyer decides to transport his car, he would some research work regarding classic car transporter, and this can be done by looking online or yellow pages.

6 Tips For Jump Starting a Car

When your car's battery dies or loses its ability to crank the engine, you may need someone to give it a jump start. Doing so can provide your battery with the current it needs to turn the engine over and start your car. But, jump starting a car can be dangerous because of the hydrogen gas and acid contained within the battery. If it explodes, it can cause serious injury. Unfortunately, many car owners approach jump starting haphazardly and take it for granted. Below, I'll give you 6 tips and precautions that you should use to protect you and your car.

Tip #1: Line 'Em Up

Align your cars in a way that places each car's battery as close to the other as possible. Then, place both cars in "Park" and turn them off. Also, make sure that the cars are not touching each other. The current can travel through the hull, potentially causing damage and injury.

Tip #2: Know Your Signs

Car batteries have a positive post and a negative post. How those posts are connected to the cables is important. Before connecting anything, familiarize yourself with which post is which.

Tip #3: Know Your Connections

Jumper cables are typically colored red and black. Those colors indicate which cable connects to which post. The red cable will be connected to the positive posts on the dead battery and the charged battery. The black cable will be connected to the negative post on the charged battery. The other end of the black cable will clamp down on the hull of the dead battery's car.

Tip #4: Clear The Cable Path

Do not allow the clamps at the end of the cables to touch each other. Also, make sure that the cables are free of any moving parts. They can easily become caught in the fan, ripping the clamps off the posts.

Tip #5: Good Battery First

Once the cables have been connected to the battery posts, start the engine of the car with the charged battery first. Let the engine idle for a few minutes so its charging system can take some of the load off the battery.

Tip #6: Disconnect, Then Drive

After starting the car with the dead battery, disconnect the jumper cables after the engine turns over. In order for the battery to keep its charge, you'll need to drive it continuously for approximately 30 minutes.

Jump starting a car isn't complicated. You need to memorize which posts are positive and negative, and which cables are connected to which posts. Then, take a few minutes to follow the tips above, ensuring your safety and preventing damage to both vehicles.

iPod Car Accessories

A Review of Car HID Lights

Some drivers are not satisfied with the head lights of their car because they are not bright enough. Don't worry. Let me show you another way to replace them with xenon lighting products. Maybe it is difficult for you to buy them on the market for some vehicle manufacturers don't even provide them. It doesn't matter. Now I introduce you Car HID Lights, one of the biggest xenon lighting providers online, which can offer you xenon kits and H.I.D lighting products with various sizes and colors.

What are xenon lighting and HID kits? Maybe you are not familiar with them. It is called Xenon because of the gas name used inside the bulb. Xenon is an odorless, colorless gas which can provide electrical current to emit three times more white light then the standard halogen bulb. Xenon bulbs emit a longer and wider range light with only 40% less electrical current. They also emit a whiter and more luminous color which is more natural to the human eye. The color emulates what the sun emits, which allows for better visibility during the night, raining days and snowing days etc.

Car HID Lights includes almost every kinds of car models online. So you can simply select the collect xenon lights and set them up for your vehicle based on the model information. Each model contains a wide range of color temperatures (e.g. 4300K, 6000K, 8000K, 10,000K, 12,000K and 30,000K) which can meet your personalized needs. The color temperatures mentioned above simply reflect the color output of the bulbs instead of brightness.

Car Alarm Installation

Car alarm installation is a complex and comprehensive process requiring expertise in working with electrical systems. The ability to read wiring schematics and make strong connections is an added advantage. Additionally, time and patience are the best partners when trying to install an alarm in your car.

Car alarm installation accessories include input for adding a trunk pin, door pins, hood pin, door sensors, air horns, tilt sensors, starter disable relays, power window control modules, trunk release modules, starter-kill protection, output for parking light flash, door opening protection, adjustable shock sensors, LED lights, and sirens.

For car alarm installation, first find a suitable location for the placement of the alarm, siren, reset switch, and dash light. Then collect the materials such as knife, crimps, solder gun, test light, screws, tie wrap, solder drill, material, screw bit, double-sided mounting tape and a voltmeter. Carefully read the installation manual that comes with the alarm. That includes fitting instructions and wiring diagrams.

The most important features of any car alarm installation are wiring integrity, alarm module placement, and LED positioning. Strong wiring connections ensure that your alarm works more efficiently. Hiding of the wiring and exposing of the alarm module placement increases the alarm's effectiveness. If the alarm wires are easily visible, a thief can cut them fast and damage the alarm. Installation of LED lights is very important, especially as a means to prevent robbery. Place the LED in a highly visible and logical position.

After completing the installation process, test its performance. If the alarm does not work correctly, check the wiring and connections and try again. There are a number of companies in the United States specializing in car alarm installation services. They also provide video clips about the actual installation processes, proper testing procedures, and troubleshooting tips.

Remote Control Car Setup Tips

Setting up a remote control car is as much a science as it is an art, the physics behind rc cars is exactly the same as the physics that governs real cars, if you know how setup changes in a race car work, you already know how to setup a remote control car.

The problem that most people have with setting up RC cars is that when you make a change in one area it always has a knock-on effect on the rest of your settings, setups are very much a balancing act

To start with I'll concentrate on the basics of handling, over steer and under steer. The physics behind this is pretty simple, if you turn into a corner the center of gravity will move in what ever direction you were initially travelling. Your tires via friction push back with (hopefully) an equal amount of force. When your wheels lose traction and start to slide the energy that was being turned into heat in your tires gets released as inertial energy in the original direction of travel. With cars, both back and front don't break traction equally, this creates either under steer or over steer, which is how we describe the experience the driver has under these conditions.

Under steer

Under steer is when the front of the car loses traction while the rear of the car still has grip on the tar, the effect is that the nose of the car drifts away from the direction you are turning, turning harder makes it worse, the only thing you can really do is back off the throttle and bleed off speed.

Over Steer

Over steer is the opposite of under steer, and in most cases it's best to have a little of this. The front of the car keeps traction while the rear lets go. One of the key benefits is that you can typically corner much faster in a car that has some over steer

Over steer / Under steer Tuning tips

There are a lot of ways to tune the handling or your radio controlled car, the easiest is to adjust the front and rear shocks. While there are a lot of options with springs, different oils and all sorts we are just going to concentrate on the basics, most decent shocks have adjustments, either with spacers or bolts that let you adjust how hard or soft the shocks are.

As far as maximum and minimum stiffness goes, make sure that the bottom of your car doesn't scrape the ground, and on the other end make sure it doesn't bounce and leave the asphalt, apart from that you need to find the setup that matches your driving style, most people get winning setups off the internet and try to learn to drive them, mind you this is a great starting point, and most championship winners post their setup sheets

Shock Stiffness guide

Stiffen in front = increasing under steer or reducing over steer
Stiffen in rear = increasing over steer or reducing under steer

You may be wondering why one setting makes two changes, this is because it's all about balance, you could for example setup your rc car by only every changing the rear stiffness, but you would find that when you got the perfect amount of over steer under braking the car would then be uncontrollable during the exit of the corner. It's all about balance,

Another thing to keep in mind is that when you change the shocks you also change the roll of the car, this the the chassis of the car moving with the inertia, in effect pushing the front tires into the road during breaking and the rear during acceleration. If your shocks are too soft then the transfer might dig your front wheels in and lift the rear enough to make you car spin out, or lose steering under throttle, you have to find the right balance

More to come...

Gregory Alexander was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. He spent most of his younger days travelling the world, but eventually settled back home. He first got interested in Remote Control several years ago, since then it has grown into an obsession, now a successful RC Racer and Drifter he shares his knowledge with the world.

Ask what are the coverage of the insurance. You should also check if the car that you will be renting is properly insured by the car reservations company.

Check currency policy. If you are reserving a car to another country, ask which currency you will use for the payment. Moreover, ask where is the specific location of the booking agency in another country in case of emergencies. Also inquire about telephone numbers and other contact details.

Car reservations can easily be done especially online with a single click. Nonetheless, you should secure your transactions online. Make sure that you are on a credible car reservations company site. Car Insurance - What Happens If You Don't Have It?

If you're like me, you get sick of paying insurance. As you pay those high insurance bills, the thought crosses your mind, "What if I just don't pay it? What's the worst that could happen?" Depending on where you live, a variety of things could happen. In this article, you will discover what's required and what can happen if you don't pay your car insurance.

In the United States, each state is allowed to come up with their own set of laws and this applies to insurance also. In New Hampshire, no liability insurance is required but in Virginia, you must pay a $500 annual fee if you choose not to have liability insurance. In North Carolina, no insurance = no drivers license.

If you own a car, in every state the minimum requirement is liability insurance. Liability insurance doesn't cover you or your property, but covers the costs of the other people involved in the accident. That way if the accident is your fault, your insurance can pay medical costs and the costs to repair or replace the other person's car. Here are some of the penalties for not having liability car insurance:

  • Large fines - fines vary from $100 to $500 for first-time offence
  • Suspension of license - time varies from 30 days to 3 months for first-time offence
  • Jail time - usually only after you have been caught driving with a suspended license

As you can see, none of these are good and you need to know your individual state's requirements. One of the easiest ways to find out the requirements for your state is to go online and search for " 'name of state' car insurance laws". Beware of unofficial websites offering information though. There are many sites set up to make money off of selling car insurance or getting leads for car insurance quotes. Make sure you find your state's official site so you know you are getting the correct information for your site.

Now that you know what liability insurance is and some of the consequences, check your state's insurance laws today so you can make sure you are covered and don't suffer a fine, license suspension, or even jail time.

Hybrid Car Tax Credit

Ever since 2005, the IRS has been giving a tax credit to individual taxpayers who drive cars which use alternative fuel sources. There was at one time just a clean fuel burning deduction available to green minded taxpayers, but this only applied to gas-electric hybrid vehicles. In 2005, however, this was replaced by the current legislation, the Energy Policy Act.

By the terms of this 2005 law, the tax credit is taken directly from the total amount of tax which the taxpayer would otherwise owe. This reduces or can even eliminate the tax which the individual in question must pay. If you are unsure whether or not your particular "green" vehicle qualifies for this credit, you can ask your car manufacturer or your local dealership.

If you have bought a hybrid vehicle after January 1 2006, then your vehicle (and you, happily!) qualify for this tax credit. This tax credit will also apply to your vehicle if you have begun to use your car after this date.

A hybrid vehicle is, by the definition given in this law a vehicle having drive trains which are powered by a rechargeable battery of some sort in addition to an internal combustion engine. Most hybrid vehicles which are available on the market currently do in fact qualify for this credit.

The credit provided for in the Energy Policy Act applies only to those who have purchased a new vehicle that meets these criteria. If this vehicle is leased rather than purchased outright by a consumer, it is the leasing company instead of the end user may claim this tax credit.

Let's have a look at how large of a credit you will be eligible to receive for your hybrid vehicle. This information is current as of January 2008:

Car Loans After Bankruptcy - Tips to Getting Approved

A car loans after a bankruptcy is one way to help build back your credit history. In fact, once your bankruptcy closes, you can apply for a car loan the next day. To get approved with the best rates for your car loan, follow these tips.

Review Your Credit Report

Before you start applying for a car loan, check out your credit report and make sure all your accounts are in order. It is not uncommon after a bankruptcy to see open accounts that should be closed, which hurt your credit rating.

While looking at your credit report, consider adding a page explaining the situation that resulted in your bankruptcy. If there were extenuating circumstances, lenders may approve you for a better rate than under normal conditions.

Plan Your Car Purchase

Before purchasing a vehicle, decide what you can afford in a monthly car loan payment. This will help you decide which financing package is best for you. Both the loan amount and length of payments will determine your monthly payments, so there is flexibility in determining which vehicle you can afford to purchase.

Use A Car Loan Lender

Car loan lenders make their money by finding you a loan. Car loan lenders work with several financing partners to back loans with all types of credit risk, including bankruptcies.

Online car loan lenders deal with thousands of loans, and can usually find you a better deal than your local car dealerships. Online car loan lenders will send you a check when you are approved, basically making you a pre-approved car loan buyer.

Explain Your Situation

Car loan applications will ask if you have ever declared bankruptcy and why. This is your chance to explain what led up to the situation and what steps you have taken to resolve your credit situation. Be sure to include improvements in your financial history too.

Consider Refinancing

Once you are approved for a car loan, keep your eye on future refinancing. By making regular payments on all your bills, in a years time you could qualify for significantly lower interest rates. In three years, you can build your credit score to near excellent and qualify for even lower rates.

Car Stereo IPod

Car stereo ipod is a great device to have especially when one is traveling as it proves to be a great companion keeping one wide awake all along. For one to have a great travel, they will need to have an ipod and the transmitter that comes long. One might choose to have the whole ipod kit but it might be a bother and one might not use all accessories that come along with the kit.

At such an instance, one might only need to carry the ipod itself and the car stereo Fm transmitter. Some transmitters come as a package with a charger meaning that is one does not need to have a charger if they use such a two in one transmitter with a charger. In this case, one avoids the hullabaloo of carrying the speakers, cables, ear phones and all other accessories.

With the car stereo ipod, one is left with the option of listening to the music of their choice and one can even sing along as they travel.

Amazing Real Hydrogen Honda - A Fuel Cell Car For Today

While the internet is rife with fraudulent "run your car on water" scams that dream about increasing your gas mileage by burning some hydrogen you may happen to create with $49 in hardware store materials, the REAL hydrogen car has arrived in California.

The Honda FCX Clarity uses an advanced fuel cell that generates electricity through a reaction between hydrogen and oxygen, and emits only water as exhaust. The car is about the size of a 2007 Accord, can reach 100 miles per hour and has a range of about 270 miles. The Clarity weighs in at 3,600 pounds and can go 74 miles on a gallon of hydrogen (which is pressurized to 5,000 psi) says Honda. This is a true zero-emissions vehicle, which doesn't need batteries, just a fill-up at your corner hydrogen station once a week or so.

So far, only a few dozen cars will be imported to the Los Angeles area in California this year, due to the scarcity of hydrogen refueling stations (California has stations in Torrance, Irvine and Santa Monica). Honda says it will have 200 units in the US within three years.

The costs? The FCX Clarity is available by lease only, at $600 per month, and only celebrities will be among the first customers for the car, which will be formally released in July. No word from Honda on how much the FCX is worth but an earlier version was reported to be valued at $1 million. What about fuel cost? Hydrogen is measured by weight (kilograms) and gasoline is measured by gallons, so a conventional fuel cost comparison between the FCX and a gas-powered car is not entirely relevant. But, at a cost of $5 per kg, you could fill the tank for about $20 today.

Another interesting fact: the FCX generates 100 kilowatts of electrical energy - enough to power about 20 homes. Wow!

Although real hydrogen cars such as the FCX Clarity are exceedingly expensive and will be few and far between for the foreseeable future, the hydrogen car is now a reality. And, like anything else that's high-tech and in high demand today, the hydrogen car may well follow the rapid development curve of the electronics industry of recent. Which will be a fantastic thing.

Another Movie Car

Judge Dredd was one of Sylvester Stallone's films however not one of his most successful ones. According to some of the critics, the props were the stars of the show and one of these was a customized Land Rover.

The year is 2139 and the setting is Mega City (our present New York City). American society has deteriorated into a state of barbarianism. Violence is the order of the day. Neighborhoods engage in gang wars and are patrolled by street judges who are combination judges, juries and executioners. However, New York, today or in the future, would not be New York without a taxi service. Enter the taxis of the future, the 'city cabs.'

According to the specifications, the vehicles had to accommodate six passengers in a maximum protective environment. So, as one might imagine, the vehicle resembled a tank mounted on wheels with rubber tires.

It was a right hand drive vehicle with two tiny windows in the front. There were no back or side windows. Therefore, in order to drive the vehicle, a driver and a navigator were needed. The driver controlled the vehicle from behind the wheel while the navigator watched for traffic. In order to see through the windshield, the driver had to tilt his head from side to side while leaning forward.

To get into the vehicle, one had to step up on the front tire and crawl inside without falling.

In 2139 Land Rovers are the world's only vehicles. So the 'city cabs' were custom built on a Land Rover 101 Forward Control chassis. The green oval logo is visible on the front.

The Land Rover 101 Forward Control had originally been built for the British Army to tow a L118 field gun together with a ton of ammunition and other equipment. It also had to be easy to transport by air.

Consequently, the engine was placed under and to the rear of the cab and the front hood was eliminated. This resulted in a cube shape, which made it space efficient during air transport. This basic shape also contributed to the futuristic appearance of the 'city cabs.' Other 'futuristic' features are the large wheels and tires. There is a 'wheel step' for the crew to use to enter the vehicle.

At the time the film was conceived, Land Rover had a designer, David Woodhouse, who had experimented with work on futuristic Land Rovers and already had some ideas to use for the 'city cabs.' So Land Rover's design team, led by Gordon Sked, submitted their ideas to the producers and Land Rover was awarded the contract to produce thirty-one vehicles

They modified the 101's by removing the body and replacing it with a fiberglass body equipped with the small windows in the front and the one small fiberglass door. To emphasize the cuboid appearance all rounded edges or panels were eliminated. The wheels were also extended ten inches. All of these modifications combined provided the aggressive, futuristic look that the vehicles displayed in the film.

There are still several of these vehicles in existence. While not easy to drive, they are in drivable condition and often turn up at Land Rover events.

Alternative Fuel Car is a Watered Powered Car

Alternative fuel car is a concept that more and more people like the thought of especially if he alternative fuel or I should say the secondary fuel is water. Water powered cars are certainly not a new concept you just have to look back in history to see that some of the first cars were in fact steam cars.

The water powered cars of today though are a far cry from their ancestors. The first cars that were made of steam were in fact quite slow compared to today's standard and they would take a little while to get the steam built up enough before they could be driven.

In those days fortunately people didn't want to drive too far as they would only go for about 50 miles before they would need a stop to be refilled up. That would never do for the amount of miles that we all like to drive today.

The alternative fuel cars that are available for us to use when water is the second fuel are extremely economic to run and allow many more miles than even a tank on petrol or disel can currently give.

This enhanced performance is due to the fact that the hydrogen in the water is able to split the cars main fuel, be it gas or diesel into much smaller molecules which allows for more efficient fuel burning.

So rather than waste 75% of your fuel through the exhaust pipe as waste you can actually burn it leaving only water vapour as waste emissions and a lot more money in your pocket.

Muscle Car Motors

Hi performance cars are built on a new engine case unless you request a rebuilt one. And are the result of careful parts matching, and the correct combination of parts is critical. And are increased horsepower resulting from alteration to cubic inch displacement, camshafts, carburettor, or exhaust system, and that produced by the automobile manufactures. Muscle Cars are hard on clutches, the lockout clutch will eliminate excessive slipping and improve your clutch life up to 5 times longer.

One of the hottest products to emerge in recent years are steel head gaskets. This is how all engines are broken in, and today can be considered since they pull more power out then there predecessors ever did. To put into categories, most stock/street cars are 80% 85% efficient, and race motors are 90% 95%. Reliable engines are dependent upon high quality components and sub components.

RHINO Engines are built with the highest quality parts to give you the best performance and the maximum horsepower. Shipping methods are via truck freight anywhere within the contiguous 48 U. Muscle Cars are not indestructible and can break if not enough attention is given to the proper setting and use. Some motors are very susceptible to knocking because they compress the fuel/air mixture more.

All are built to strict specifications using the most precise measuring tools and devices. Industrial and performance motors are often built with larger clearances and will use more oil. All of our motors are run on our dynamometer to ensure maximum performance is realized. Stock engines are warrantied for 24 months 24,000 miles; muscle cars are warrantied for 6 months 6,000 miles. Today, performance engines are all aluminum, but the cylinder bore evenly coated with a few microns of a ceramic material such as silicon carbide.

Most all motors are high compression, but not verse verso. Ken says that most of these engines are using the valve. And are the most powerful in their class and will easily handle most demanding hills. The days of short life on high performance motors are long gone.

Built on a new motor case unless you request a rebuilt one. And are the result of careful parts matching, and the correct combination of parts is critical. And are by nature not that quiet. And are those increased horsepower resulting from alteration to cubic inch displacement, camshafts, carburetor, or exhaust system, and that produced by the automobile manufactures. Are hard on clutches, the lockout clutch will eliminate excessive slipping and improve your clutch life up to 5 times longer.

So if you want to get quality xenon lighting products and make a conversion upgrade for the head lights of your car, just go and order them.

Car Engine Cranks Over But Doesn't Start - Automotive Repair Tips

Many times in the past as an automotive technician, I would be given a car to diagnose that either had a problem that prevented the car's engine from turning over or that prevented the car's engine from starting. These are two completely different scenarios and these problems are approached differently. Sometimes when the service writer would create a work order, he wouldn't convey the REAL problem that the customer was experiencing. If the customer or the service writer would make sure the correct explanation of the problem is written, some unnecessary trips out to the car with the wrong tools would be avoided. For instance if the car doesn't crank over at all, I would need to take my jump box with me. And if the car cranked over but didn't start, I would want my scan tool and some starting fluid.

A car that cranks over but doesn't start, in many cases will be due to a bad fuel pump, a broken timing belt, an inoperative cam sensor or crank sensor. The first step in diagnosing a no start is to scan for codes with a code reader or scan tool. Approximately 40% of the cars towed in that I worked on in the last 25 years, either had a bad fuel pump or the fuel gage read incorrectly and the car was just out of fuel. Yes, some people actually have their cars towed in when all they need is some gas! If the fuel gage indicates that there is fuel in the tank, most people will assume naturally that the car does have fuel. But if the fuel sending unit or gage is off slightly, the car's gas tank could actually be empty. One of the easiest ways to check for a fuel pump related problem is to spray a little starting fluid into the air intake while trying to start the car. If the car starts momentarily, then there's a good chance the fuel pump is not working or the car is out of gas. You can also listen for the fuel pump's humming sound when the key is first turned on. Also if a inoperative fuel pump is suspected, a good technician will always check to verify there is power and ground being supplied to the pump, to eliminate the possibility of a bad relay or electrical issue. Fuel pressure can be checked with a pressure gage and if there is pressure, pulse can be checked at the fuel injectors in several ways including the most common, with the use of noid lights. If the injectors don't have pulse the engine won't start.

Broken timing belts also caused about 40% of the tow ins in my experience. A broken timing belt can fail causing the car to seem as if it ran out of fuel while driving. When trying to start the car though, the engine typically spins over faster than normal due to the engine having low compression from the timing being off and the valves being open at the wrong time. If the timing belt breaks, there sometimes could be a code set in the vehicles ECU (Electronic Control Unit) for no signal from the cam sensor. If this code is present, you can sometimes check to see if the cam is moving by removing the oil cap while someone engages the starter. Also the upper timing cover can be removed to allow access to the timing belt for inspection. Most of the time when a timing belt breaks the teeth (or cogs) are stripped down at the crank pulley the bottom sprocket preventing the belt from turning the camshaft.

Lack of pulse from the fuel injectors as stated before can prevent a car from running. This brings me to the third most common cause of a car that cranks over but doesn't start, approximately 20% of the tow ins that I worked on had the following problem. Many times the cause of lack of pulse is because of a bad cam or crank sensor. If the computer doesn't see either the crank or the cam turning, the fuel injectors won't be commanded to pulse. One quick indication that a cam or crank sensor may be bad is to check for RPM movement on the tachometer (if equipped) when trying to start the engine. If you have a scan tool not just a code reader, the cam and crank sensor data can be checked on many vehicles by accessing the appropriate screen. If no revolutions are shown when attempting to start the car, the respective sensor could be bad.

Obviously there are many vehicle makes, with different ignition and fuel delivery systems that may require a service manual to properly diagnose or to delve deeper. But with the above tips and tricks that I've used over the years you'll be checking the most likely causes, that hopefully will send you in the right direction.

The Do it Yourself Car Tune Up

If you have ever had your mechanic give your car a tune up, you know it is not cheap. Most people who are not mechanics themselves assume they have no choice but to pay somebody else to do it. Not true! A do it yourself car tune up is something every single car owner should know how to do just because it makes you more independent...but it also can save you money.

There are some things you simply can't do yourself, like check the complex electronic sensors in today's advanced engines. You're stuck paying your mechanic to do that. But you can keep your car humming along yourself without paying through the nose. Here are seven easy things every car owner should know how to do (yes, even you ladies who don't fancy yourselves grease monkeys). Your car owner's manual will tell you where to find the engine parts you need to touch and tune up.

First, change your fuel filter. This can improve your gas mileage and prolong the life of your engine. You ought to change the filter once per year.

Second, change your oil filter. Oil lubricates your engine. The oil filter keeps your oil clean so it can do its job well. Replace the filter every time you change your oil, which will probably be about every 3,000 to 5,000 miles.

Third, change your own oil. This is one you should know how to do, but that you won't always do yourself (disposing of used motor oil is a bit of a pain in the neck, and your mechanic is all set up to do it). You will probably pay $25-50 to have somebody else do it, and you can do it yourself on most cars. That's a simple way to save money.

Fourth, replenish your fluids. That includes the windshield washer fluid and your motor oil. Learn how to check your own oil with the dipstick. There's no excuse for not knowing how to do that on your own. Why pay somebody for an hour of labor just to do something you can do yourself in about three minutes while you're filling up your gas tank?

Fifth, check your belts. You should let your mechanic handle the timing belt, but if others are worn, you can change them yourself.

Sixth, service your own battery. You might need to add distilled water (your owner's manual should help you know) from time to time. But you can always keep the cables clean and check the terminals for corrosion.

Seventh, change your wiper blades. This one wins the "easy" award. Almost any auto parts store (AutoZone, etc.) will have the right blades for your car, or can get them. Follow the instructions on the package and you will have a clean windshield in all weather, and you'll improve your road safety.

A do it yourself car tune up is not hard, and it is not expensive. You can not do everything yourself (and it is not worth your time if you could), but doing a few little things can save you a bundle next time you visit your mechanic.

Car Insurance No Claims Bonus Explained

No Claims Bonus is a term used to describe the number of years you have had Car Insurance without making a claim. Put simply, if you have had Car Insurance for 4 years and you have not made a claim in that time, then you have 4 years No Claims Bonus. No Claim Bonus is probably the single biggest factor affecting the cost of your Car Insurance premium. Every year that goes by without you making a claim is another year of No Claims Bonus.

Generally speaking, the more No Claims Bonus years you have, the cheaper your premium will be for the car you need to insure. This is because Car Insurance companies can see that your history regarding making any accident claim is a good one.

When changing provider, Car Insurance companies will usually ask you to prove your No Claims Bonus in the form of a renewal notice or a letter from your current Car Insurance company. If you have several years of No Claims Bonus but then make a claim, the Car Insurance company will usually apply it's rules of how much to knock back your No Claims Bonus Years. Some companies such as Accept Direct http://www.acceptdirect.co.uk offer to protect your No Claims Bonus for an extra fee during the quotation process. Having full no claims bonus can also entitle you up to 75% discount on your car insurance premium.

Remote Car Starter Buying Guide

My store has been installing Remote Car Starters since the early 1990s. This experience has taught us what is important in a quality remote starter installation. With the cold season almost upon us, we thought it would be a good time to post our Top 10 List (in no particular order):

10. Warranty

The actual remote starter brain should be warrantied for as long as you own the car. Many quality companies offer this. If they do not, it is a possible sign of inferior equipment. Remote controls, however are rarely warrantied for more than a year. Our Pro line remotes carry a 2 year warranty and all our 2 way remotes have a $25 replacement plan.

9. Engine Speed Sensing

A good remote starter should have some method of monitoring the engine RPM's. Why is this important? There are a couple reasons:

* On a very cold day, the car might not start on the first turn of the key. The same is true with a remote starter. It might not start the first time the starter does it's thing. Without a method of sensing engine RPM's the remote starter will have no way of knowing that the vehicle has failed to start. The end result is that you go out to your car and it is still cold.

* The other main reason is over-rev protection. A quality remote starter will know if the engine speed is too high and shut off. A remote start that does not offer RPM sensing cannot know if this level is exceeded and could end with damage to the vehicle.

8. Transmitter Range

You want to make sure that the remote start that you are buying will allow you to start/stop/lock/unlock, etc from a long distance. Many people say that they just park their car right outside of their house and do not need a long rang transmitter. Just keep in mind the trips to the movies, the mall, the amusement park, etc. You will want to use your remote start then also and you will not be parked as close as at home. Our transmitters offer a minimum of 800 feet and some are over a mile!

7. Hood Safety Switch

Make sure that there is an emergency cutoff installed under the hood. This cutoff is designed to prevent the vehicle from remote starting if the hood is up. This protects you and your mechanic from forever having someone else open your ketchup bottles! DO NOT OVERLOOK THIS! Many shops skip this step because it saves time. Mobile Edge integrates a hood cutoff on every single job.

6. Manufacturer

Make sure that the manufacturer is a company that specializes in remote car starters. There are many companies out there that simply throw a label on a product and call it their own. You want to avoid that. It is our experience that these companies provide little if any support for their products and many will not be in business next year. Stick with the experts.

5. New Car Warranty

Do not let your car dealer tell you that an aftermarket remote car starter will void your warranty . This is against the law. The Magnuson Moss Act prevents a dealer from voiding a warranty simply because of the addition of aftermarket equipment. If that equipment or associated installation causes damage to the vehicle, the dealer does not have to warranty the job. This is more of a reason to go to a specialist shop that sell good remote starters and installs them professionally. I have a detailed PDF on this subject.

4. Do it Yourself?

Unless you are a certified technician with experience in remote car starter installation, DO NOT attempt to install your own remote starter. I know... The one you saw at WalMart comes with an instructional video. That video will teach you enough to make you dangerous. Trust me! It will not teach you how to integrate the transponder in a 2004 Ford or bypass the security in an 06 Trailblazer. The instructional video may have worked in the early 1990's, but today's cars are very sophisticated. Save yourself a ton of expense and headache and have it installed by someone who does this for a living and can be responsible for the job. This brings us to number 3.

3. Buy it Here / Install it There?

Do not buy your remote starter on eBay (or WalMart or Amazon, etc) and expect to find a quality, reputable shop that will install it for you. While many aftermarket shops will install stereos and amps purchased elsewhere, few if any will install a remote start purchased elsewhere. During remote starter season, the good shops are busy enough trying to keep up with their own work. If you find a shop that will install someone else's remote starter, they are likely not very busy. Do you want to trust your vehicle to that guy?

There is another very important reason not to buy a remote starter at one place and have it installed at another. Let's say something goes wrong. A remote starter is an electronic product and can fail. The guy that puts it in will blame the product and the manufacturer will say that it was installed wrong. Guess who is stuck in the middle with no recourse. When you have the shop that you buy a remote starter from install it, you have one place to go in the event of a failure. There cannot be any finger pointing.

2. Go to a Specialist

Look for a specialty shop. Not to bash any of the chain stores, but they have a much higher turnover rate with installers than a specialty shop. These are people that likely have less experience than a long term employee at a specialty shop. It is my experience that many installer "cut their teeth" at a chain store and, once they have more experience, move on to a specialist (We pay more!).

Many specialists (not all though) will solder all of their connections. I feel that this is very important. Crimp connectors can save up to an hour of installation time, but when dealing with the vehicle's electrical system, I want a rock solid connection. The only way to get that is by soldering the wires together. Mobile Edge has soldered every connection on every job for nearly 15 years.

Will a remote starter from a specialty shop cost more than from a chain store? Sometimes yes. But put that into perspective. Even if the job cost $100 more from a specialist, that difference is less than 1/10 of 1% of what you probably paid for your car. Why take the risk. Not to mention, when you deal with a specialist, you can talk to the installer, salesman and, in many cases, the owner. There is definitely a value in that.

1. More than Just a Remote Starter

Make sure that you review all of the convenience features that can be added to your remote starter with your salesperson before the installation! Most higher quality remote starters will allow a ton of cool features to be added or controlled from the remote. Anything from heated seats to keyless entry and rear defrost can be integrated with most better systems. It is A LOT cheaper to have this done at the time of installation. If you want to add it later, you may be paying for several hours of additional labor.

The Bottom Line

In summary, the cheapest price does not always save you money! When selecting a shop to have a remote starter put in, ask a lot of questions. How long have they been in business? How much experience do their technicians have? Do they have sophisticated computer programs to aid with installation? How do they handle warranty issues? You get the idea. The better shops will clearly rise to the top. They might cost a little more up front, but that extra expense will pay dividends in quality and piece of mind. I am sure that you will find that Mobile Edge is one of the best shops for your Remote Car Starter Installation.

Best Car Loan Rates - Tips To Getting a Low Auto Loan Rate Online

Online car loan shopping practically guarantees that you are getting the best rates. Your location is no longer a barrier to finding the best auto loan rate. However, you want to take advantage of the financing options available. While searching for an auto loan, research financing companies, negotiate terms, and increase your down payment to get low rates.

Study Financing Companies

A sure fire way to find the best car loan rate is to study financing companies. Only by requesting quotes and comparing the fine print can you truly know you are getting the lowest rate.

Fortunately, online auto loan brokers offer convenient ways to compare lenders. With some sites you can make side by side comparisons, while other sites will email you multiple financing offers. Auto loan brokers work hard to attract customers by negotiating lower rates with lenders, so you often will find better deals through their sites that through a dealership.

To ensure that you are getting accurate quotes, fill out the form as completely as possible. A slight difference in income or employment dates can reduce your interest rate.

Negotiate Terms

To find the best auto loan for your financial situation, you will want to balance the interest rates and length of your loan. Shorter loans offer lower rates, but with a higher monthly payment. Take a look at your monthly budget to see what type of auto loan would work best for your situation.

Increase Your Down Payment

While zero down or a slight down payment are options for car buyers, a large down payment will save you money. By putting down 20% or more, you will qualify for a lower interest rate, even if you have adverse credit. You will also save money by not paying interest on that portion of the vehicles price.

Demand A Better Deal

By getting pre-qualified for a car loan, you can also reduce the cost of your vehicle by demanding a better deal from your dealership. As a pre-qualified buyer, salespeople see you as a cash buyer, and they want your money. You can negotiate for rebates, higher trade-in value of your vehicle, and extra features.

Essentials of a Car Stereo

A car stereo is a basic requirement of a vehicle. Vehicles without stereos are considered old and outdated. One considers weight of his pocket and the kind of music he wants to listen to, this guides his decision on the car stereo equipment to purchase.

There are many reasons why one would want to buy this equipment; to install it if it's a new car, to replace the old radio with a CD, to upgrade an old car sub woofers, to power the old sub woofers and if one wants to increase the bass or soften the sound.

The car stereo equipment gives different options for your car. If you want to spend less, go for LCD display and ignore screen savers and flashy animations. A CD deck power up the old speakers, this is necessary when you want to replace the radio. An old car needs servicing, speaker sets help to boost the old speakers. An Mp3 CD player helps you to play downloaded music from the your computer.

Ensure your deck has 50w/ROMS to power it, sub woofer and amplifier to improve the bass, they should be connected in parallel circuit to improve the sound. The amplifier should be stronger than the sub woofer to prevent blowing. The Internet provides thorough information on car stereos, this helps you get all relevant information and where to purchase the equipment. Car stereos are pocket friendly, come in different sizes and gives many options making it available for all calibers. If you are still not sure about the essentials of a car stereo even with all this information, you should visit your local car stereo supply stores for clarification.

Deer Car Accidents

According to State Farm Insurance, Pennsylvania comes in first as the state that has the most automobile and dear crashes. A survey done by the insurance company showed that 1.5 million automobiles are involved in collisions with deer each year and have caused 150 deaths and $1.1 billion in damages. Deer migrate and mate between October and December and that is when most accidents occur. The time that they most often happen seems to be first thing in the morning and dusk. Since a deer can weight over 200 pounds, a run in with one can cause death to a driver, passengers, the deer and thousands of dollars in damage to your car.

Based on rankings of the total number of deer accident claims filed with State Farm other states that rank high with deer car accidents are Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Georgia, Minnesota, Virginia, Indiana, Texas and Wisconsin.

If you are driving in an area that is known to have deer, use your high beams for greater visibility, and slow down if you see a deer standing on the side of the road. If you startle the deer, it may run right in front of you. Use your horn and flash your lights until the deer is out of harm's way. Also, if you've seen one deer, there are probably more in the area, so drive very cautiously. If you can't avoid a collision, try not to swerve. It increases the chances of losing control of your car. Attentive driving is the best way to avoid run-ins with deer.

Getting Your Car Ready For Winter

Although all us don't live in Alaska where some folks have to hook up their cars to an engine warmer every night, we all still need to think about getting your car ready for winter. If you live in a region where the temperatures dip below freezing only a couple of nights during the winter months, you will need to make sure your car's engine is winterized. You don't want to wake up one frosty morning to find that the block is cracked in your car from freezing temperatures!

One of the first things you'll want to do to get your car ready for the cold is to change the viscosity of your oil. Don't be alarmed! This only means how thick or thin the oil is! The oil gets thick when it gets cold. The thing to is to change the oil and add a thinner oil during the winter months. Check your owner's manual for oil what weight of oil they recommend for the winter. Getting the oil ready is an important step in getting your car ready for winter.

Having antifreeze present in the radiator keeps the water inside it from freezing. Here is where the cracked block will come into play. If the antifreeze isn't in the water, the water will freeze and expand and crack the block. Making sure your car has the correct amount of antifreeze in it will save you a lot! If you put the antifreeze in yourself, make sure to safely dispose of the container because it is poisonous upon ingestion.

The cold is brutal to a car. Check hoses and belts to make sure they are in good shape. The cold will cause them to deteriorate at a faster rate. Those that are in bad shape to start with will be the ones to go in the winter. Also inspect your windshield wipers and wiper fluid. If your windshield wipers have been on for more than a year, it's time to get new ones for the coming winter. Make sure you keep the wiper fluid reservoir full also. You don't want to get caught in the snow without any wipers!

If you live where the snow is imminent in winter, check into getting a set of snow tires for your car. If you drive a 4-wheel drive, ensure that the 4-wheel drive system is in good working order. The gears should engage and disengage smoothly and there shouldn't be any noises coming from the drive train. Getting your car ready for winter will be worth it when you are able to still make it to the store!

Another tip for getting your car ready for winter is to make an emergency kit of assorted tools and the sort to keep in the car. For winter, you'll want to add a blanket and a portable heater that can be plugged into the cigarette lighter. A flashlight, food, a snow scraper and a shovel are other winter items to add to this kit.

How Can I Keep My Car Off the Radar of Car Thieves?

Automobile theft, or robbery, can be as devastating to a consumer as home theft. You park your car for a little shopping, yet when you return your car has vanished. It's a commonplace scenario in today's world. Yet, it can be prevented.

The first step is to realize a car alarm means nothing today. Everyone has them. Most consumers have cars that are equipped with alarms, yet automobiles are still begin stolen. Many alarms do nothing more than annoy other honest consumers. They're so sensitive that they go off because someone in the car parked next to you opened their door or a child may have wondered away from their parents. When people in a store or shopping mall hear a car alarm, they most often believe it is nothing. The increased sensitivity over time has, inadvertently, greatly decreased any effectiveness of car alarms.

The second step is to take a good look inside your car. Imagine it to be from a stranger's perspective. Do you have visible valuables laying out in full view? Do you have expensive cellular phones or laptops set up in your car? Do you have money out in the open? This is tempting fate and you should hide all such items if you are leaving your car in the open. Expensive stereo equipment should be as hidden as possible. Is there any way your local mechanic can install a small blind to cover the front of the stereo when you aren't in the car?

You should always think of where you park your car. You may not want it near others in case someone should run a shopping cart into it or someone may get close with their own automobile doors. But, do you really want it parked far away? This is the golden opportunity car thieves will be looking for. You car should be in very visible, public, and well-lit areas. Would you rather have chipped paint or a mutilated interior and a few thousand in stolen electronics? If you are one of the consumers who keep the spare key in the car, you may not have a car at all when you return. Always keep spare keys in your pocket or purse.

If you do park your car near other people, you should also take precautions and watch your behavior. Do not draw attention to yourself or your car. Some automobile owners literally go ballistic when even children get too near their car. If car thieves are watching, this can have a dramatically negative effect. If you openly and vocally warn others to stay away, they may wonder what's inside that you are so protective of. They may think it's an expensive stereo system. A cache of money. Whatever their assumption, it can make your car look like a veritable goldmine. Car thieves will not usually have children with them and certainly will not be taking a leisurely stroll through a parking lot. They will be moving as quickly as possible and trying not to be seen.

Protecting your automobile should be a primary consideration when you go shopping. It's important to keep your head and avoid suspecting everyone. A car thief will likely be as hidden as possible and either outside the parking lot or in between cars.

You can protect your car with the same common sense you would use to protect yourself. It will be well worth it in the long run. The best automobile insurance is to ensure your aren't a victim of automobile theft or robbery.

How To Draw A Car

Basics, Basics!

To learn how to draw cars you only need to have a basic understanding of geometric shapes. With this little bit of knowledge and understanding you can easily draw a car of any make or model.

Maybe a Sedan?

Perhaps you want to draw a sedan. A sedan is a four-door passenger car that seats five people and features a nice, roomy trunk. This is your typical family car and it is one of the easiest cars to draw.
  • To learn how to draw cars like this you need to begin with a simple, long rectangle. This rectangle is the basic length of your car.
  • Next, draw a smaller rectangle on top of the long one. This should not be directly in the middle because you want the hood of your car to be longer than the trunk.

    Combine the Shapes!

  • Now, you can combine the two shapes by adding a long curving line over the rectangles using them as your guide.
  • This line is the top of the car.
  • To make different styles or models of cars, you can adapt this line.
  • An older car will have a more boxed in look, while a newer car will be more streamline.
  • Next, draw a light line to show the ground. This will allow you to draw your two tires.
  • Your back tire is just to the left of the small rectangle. The front tire is closer to the front of the car.
  • What's Next?

The next step to draw a car is to add in the features of the car. Draw in your windows, the windshield, the back windshield, the bumpers, headlights, etc. Draw the outlines of the doors and door handle as well. Now it is time to add wheels to your tires.

    Finish it Off!

One you have your features drawn in you can erase any extra lines and shade in the car with color. You dont need many supplies to draw a car, just some good drawing paper, pencils and a little imagination.

    New Car Technology Advancements

Car technology is advancing at amazing speed so it's no surprise that at least a couple cool things turn up each model year. Here are some of the latest innovations that will be coming out sometime in the near future that new car buyers can look forward to seeing.

    Economy Mode

While we consider that most of us drivers are set in their ways and odds are we will never make the necessary changes to conserve on fuel. One example of such would be, we know that by simply not using our AC increases our fuel economy when we drive, but rather than just rolling down our window when we could to save fuel we opt to use the air conditioner to keep us cool. We are simply set in our ways when it comes to running our AC even when we could be just as comfortable at this time with a window down. With the new idea and innovation of the Economy Mode the car it will be able to determine what systems in your car are non-essential at the time and turn them off to save on fuel for the driver; examples could be the AC, Cruise Controls and others. The car would begin making these adjustments for the driver automatically. Its not just an idea in fact; some Hybrids feature an economy mode that limits A/C use on several models right now.

    Black Box Technology

Planes have them and cars will too, and why not the Black box on planes have be literally invaluable for many years with its ability to get detail records of trips and logs of what happens to a plane in flight or when accidents occur. Its still being debated like most things that come to personal privacy and many people will no doubt object to the idea of the black box being implemented into their personal vehicles. The fact is that both Ford and General Motors already are using black Box technology in around two-thirds of the models built, but they are referred to as "recorders". Drivers can expect the advancement of these recorders to be able to tell police officers and insurance companies about car accidents, how fast you were driving, where you had driven that day and much more.

    Cars That Park for You

Yes, a car that actually will do the parking is already in production today. There is already one type of system where the driver keeps his foot on the brake while the car amazingly enough parallel parks its self. Its future looks bright, as this type of application could be very useful in the future not just in parking but also use in other tight places like garages.

Let the Car do the Driving

Its no longer just a dream or something we have seen in the movies, with the advancement of GPS and robotic technology setting your car on Auto Pilot where the navigation system guides the car to its destination while the driver sits back and relaxes will become a reality sooner than many people could imagine. Experimentation and planning is underway with the use of magnets and GPS to make this dream become a reality.

    Crash Detection

Is already a reality with the Acura RL and its called the Collision Mitigation System. Hopefully, one day all cars will include this type of safety feature. Where the cars decides on its own that a wreck is unavoidable and will warn the driver to brace for impacts as it automatically takes action for the driver by deploying the airbags hitting the brakes and tightens up seatbelts etc. all own its own.

The near future is indeed an exciting time.

It's that time of year, with Christmas and the New Year and the never ending school holidays to contend with, many a family will pack up their car and set off on a road trip.

Many people visiting family and friends over the festive season and the rest looking for some summer fun, or simply an outlet for the kids to burn off some energy.

There a few things to consider when travelling by car with kids. First things first, meet all the necessities.

Car Insurance - Women Need More Cover

UK female drivers need to make sure that they have comprehensive car insurance that will also cover any items that are inside their cars. Information that Sheilas' Wheels collected showed that women in the UK usually leave items that are worth 129 in their cars and therefore really need comprehensive car insurance.

The information also showed how the growing popularity of going out after work, means that 27 per cent of women are leaving expensive outfits and shoes in their vehicles when they go out, and another 67 per cent of female drivers are believed to leave at least 4 pairs of shoes in their cars at any time. This means that many women, who do not have comprehensive car insurance, are having to pay out to replace the belongings that they have left in their car and that have been stolen. The best thing to do to make sure that your car and possessions are completely covered is to compare prices of comprehensive car insurance deals on comparison websites. This will mean that you can find the best cover for your needs and also the best cheap car insurance deal on offer.

Women were also advised that they should not leave their personal belongings in their cars, especially on show, as they were likely to suffer a broken window or lock on their car if opportunistic thieves were to break into their vehicles. If you have to leave any personal belongings in your vehicle, the best thing to do is to ensure that they are locked away in the boot of the car, or at the very least, out of sight.

Women who do not have comprehensive car insurance have to pay out to replace any belongings that were left in the car.

Road accidents are something that occurs globally on a considerable level, and this is a problem that has to be dealt with on a daily basis. The number of people who die each year in car accidents is over 1.5 million, and those injured more than 50 million. The UK has a very good transport and road safety system, but still the rate of car accidents that occur here is greater than what it is in the other European countries.

The UK, while it does not come anywhere near the top of the list for bad driving, does however have more accidents on a per head basis of population. A possible reason for the greater number of accidents can be the fact that drivers in the UK spend an average 8.5 hours on the road, which is greater than the average of 7.5 hours for other European countries.

The number of car accidents that occur in the UK every year is about 40,000. There are far more accidents than this, but the 40,000 are the ones of a serious nature. More than 3500 people are killed annually, and more than 30,000 are seriously injured. In the year 1998, it was targeted that the number of accidents in the UK would be reduced by 40% by 2010.

Casualties caused by car accidents decreased in 2007 by 4 % and became 247,780, while the number of deaths also decreased by 7%. There has been an 18% decrease in the number of people killed since 1998 and the number of people killed in car accidents has decreased by about 37%. These figures show that the UK is moving towards its targeted reduction in the accidents. In spite of all these figures, we see that car users are still the ones having the most number of accidents in the country and facing the most casualties, minor as well as severe.

There are some roads in the UK that are considered to be the most dangerous ones, and fatal accidents have occurred on these roads. The roads on which fatal accidents have continuously taken place over the years are A682 LANCS AND NORTH YORKS BORDER, A54 CONGLETON TO BUXTON, A59 SKIPTON TO HARROGATE, NORTH YORKS, A53 LEEK TO BUXTON, and STAFFS/DERBYSHIRE BORDER. The most common types of accidents on these roads are head on collisions and cars driving off the road.

Recently, there are also a lot of accidents occurring on roads in Devon. While the statistics of accidents in the country, those in Devon are rising and many people are being killed on the roads. Studies are being carried out to find out the causes of the high accident rates in Devon.

There are many different organisations and other bodies that are working towards creating awareness related to car accidents and their prevention. The government, police, media, NGOs and other special interest groups are constantly trying to educate people about methods and preventive measures to avoid accidents as much as possible.

    Car and Truck Alternators

Has your vehicle's alternator failed? Are you absolutely certain that it isn't your battery or starter? Determining which part has failed is essential toward avoiding unnecessarily replacing something that hasn't failed, like your battery. Let's take a look at some steps you can take to determine that your alternator, in fact, has bit the dust.

If you own an alternator testing machine, you can test to see whether your car's alternator is charging correctly. For most people this isn't practical as few motorists own such an expensive piece of equipment. For everyone else, there is a practical way for you to easily check to see if your alternator is working properly:

  • Connect a volt meter to your car's battery

  • Start your car

  • Observe the voltage output on the volt meter so that you can make an accurate determination.

If there is an increase in voltage when you start your car, then your alternator is more than likely working just fine. Likely, you battery is the culprit; check the battery itself and the connections to make a final determination.

If there is no increase in voltage, you are likely looking at having to replace your alternator.

The next step, of course, is to determine whether you will replace the alternator yourself or have someone else do the job. Some things to keep in mind as you weigh your options include:

  • If you trust your vehicle to a mechanic, what will the total cost of the work be including the part and labor? Is there a guarantee?

  • If you decide to do the work yourself, do you have all the tools on hand to get the work done? Do you own a repair manual? Do you want to purchase a new alternator or will a remanufactured unit suffice?

Your choices today are much greater than they were ten years ago, before internet shopping became a strong factor in reigning in high auto parts prices. Several online wholesalers, including the Auto Parts Warehouse, are in business to sell auto parts directly to you. Costs are generally much lower than local retail establishments and parts are from well known manufacturers, names you can trust in the business.

Doing the work yourself can save you time and money as well as give to you a sense of accomplishment. With a trusty repair manual at your side you can replace your vehicle's alternator quickly and accurately.

Car Jacking - How to Prevent It

Car jacking is becoming more and more common. Unfortunately many of these car jacking can be prevented with a little knowledge and preparation.

First be aware of your surroundings. If its night time or you know you'll return to your car after dark, try to park in a well-lighted area of the parking lot. If possible park as close to the where you'll exit to prevent too much time that can be in favor of an attacker.

If you see someone who looks suspicious, one who is lingering around the parking, or someone who appears to look suspicious in a car simply go back into a store until they move away? Or if you are at a shopping mall ask a security guard to accompany you to your car.

If you encounter a person near your car and it appears they are moving toward you, if possible get into your car quickly and lock your doors. Many cars have a remote that opens the driver's door only with the first pressing of the button. This can allow you to enter quickly and lock the doors immediately.

Don't ever enter into your car without looking in the back seat. Obviously the way to help prevent a surprise visitor in the back seat is to be sure to lock your doors upon exiting. You'd be surprised how many drivers never lock their doors. Remember many thieves, car jackers, rapists look for easy opportunities. Not locking your car creates the perfect opportunity!

If you are driving with your windows down you shouldn't have them low enough that someone can reach into the vehicle. If they're down too low they can easily reach in and grab the door handle. If someone does reach into your car you should have a canister of Pepper Spray handy. One good bust into their eyes will allow you to get away.

When driving in traffic be sure to be aware of your surroundings. Leave enough room between you and the next car in case you need to maneuver and get away.

A practice that is common by car jackers or rapists is bumping into a car. If someone rear ends your car, or just bumps into you, try to size up the situation, especially if you are in a secluded area. If you're in an area where no one seems to be around wave the vehicle that bumped you to follow you to a well populated or other area that's safe for you to exit the vehicle.

An old saying "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." It applies to personal safety. If you are attuned to your surroundings and have a reasonable education of self defense you can prevent many possible assaults or robbery happening to you.

Car jackers typically don't want to pursue someone who they know is confident and in control. The more you learn about self defense the better your chances of avoiding harm.

    Antique Ohio Electric Car

Electrically operated automobiles are amongst the earliest vehicles, and are more energy efficient than all the conventional vehicles that use ICE (internal combustion engine) technology. Fortunately, for us the electric car doesnt produce any exhaust fumes, and causes minimal or no pollution even if it charges from most renewable forms of energy. Besides this, these green or hybrid cars are capable of reducing our dependence on traditional fuels, while helping to mitigate global warming by providing relief from the greenhouse effect.

Electric cars are among the earliest automobiles, more so since electric vehicles predate petroleum and diesel cars. Its believed that a Scottish businessman, Robert Anderson invented the first proto type electric coach somewhere around 1832-1839. However, it was the year 1835, that Professor Sibrandus Stratingh of Groningen, Netherlands, helped his assistant Christopher Becker design and build the first small electric car.

The antique Ohio electric car is a vintage car now. The Ohio Electric Car Company produced electric cars, which were mainly bought by rich customers during the late 1800s and early part of 1900s. Electric vehicles were also produced by Edison, Anthony, Bakers and others during the early 1900s and even out-sold the conventional vehicles for some time! But due to technological limitations, besides other factors, these vehicles were limited to a maximum speed of 32 km/hr.

However, in 1913, Cadillac introduced the electric starter car, the sales of electric cars experienced a down slide and soon antique Ohio electric cars became just that, antiques. Now, electric cars are more popular than they have ever been with the fear of global warming and the increasing cost of gas.

    The Cable Car

The cable car has been in use in major cities across the country since the late 1860s. The first cable car system was implemented in New York City and the system was called the West Side and Yonkers Patent Railway. The railway ran from July 1, 1868 to 1870 but had to be shut down and rebuilt. When the system reopened it was run by a steam locomotive. The very first cable car system to use grips was the Clay Street Hill Railroad, which later went on to become a part of the San Francisco cable car system; one of the most recognizable systems in not only the country but also around the world.

This form of transportation is used to transport pedestrians to and from work, their home, school, shops, restaurants, the movie theater and anywhere else they wish to go along the route of the car. The cable car is powered by a cable. When pressure is applied to the cable, the car begins to move forward. When pressure is removed from the cable, the car begins to come to a stop. As the success of the San Francisco system continued to grow, other cities across not only the country but also the world took notice and began to build their own systems for transportation. Chicago added a railway system; Dunedin, New Zealand did the same; London operated their first system as well as other cities around the world.

As of today there aren't many cable car systems still in operation. The San Francisco system is the country's only moving National Historic Landmark (it began operation in 1873) and the only other operable system in the country is located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The system in Las Vegas takes patrons between three hotels. The only other operable system in the world is located in Milan, Italy. This system takes patrons from the San Raffaele Hotel to the Cascina Gobba station. Cable cars are enclosed and can hold quite a few people. There are seats as well as polls to hold onto in case the passengers have no room to sit down on the car. They can be rented out for weddings and one of the most famous scenes from television is the Tanner family using a cable car in San Francisco in the opening of the show "Full House."

The previous cities in the United States to operate a cable car system are Baltimore, Maryland; Binghamton, New York; Brooklyn, New York; Butte, Montana; Chicago, Illinois; Cincinnati Ohio; Cleveland, Ohio; Denver, Colorado; Grand Rapids, Michigan; Hoboken, New Jersey; Kansas City, Missouri; Los Angeles, California; New York, New York; Newark, New Jersey; Oakland, California; Omaha, Nebraska; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Portland, Oregon; Providence, Rhode Island; Saint Louis, Missouri; Saint Paul, Minnesota; San Diego, California; Seattle, Washington; Sioux City, Iowa; Spokane, Washington; Tacoma, Washington; Tulsa, Oklahoma, Washington D.C. and Wichita, Kansas.

There is a cable car museum dedicated to the history of the cable car system across the United States. The museum is located in San Francisco and is called the San Francisco Cable Car Museum.

    Most Frequent Car Repairs

With any machine as complicated as an automobile, you are bound to run into problems now and then. Fortunately, the majority of car repairs involve the same common issues, so it is relatively easy to find mechanics able to repair them.

Prevention is the best medicine, as they say, and that goes for cars, too. If you know what the most common auto repairs are, you can make sure that you are vigilant of these areas and keep them well-maintained. Often, it`s worth getting repairs done before the part is completely ruined, such as with brakes. When something vital goes wrong, it could cause serious problems and even an accident, so you will want to check these frequently.

    Brakes
Since we use our brakes continuously, it makes sense that they tend to wear down before many other parts on the vehicle. However, the brakes are also a very important part of the safety system in a car, so you really don`t want to wait until they fail.

The best way to ensure that you never have real problems with your braking system is to simply have it fixed as soon as you notice anything different. If you hear squealing every time you slow down or the brakes seem mushy and need to really be stomped on to stop, it`s time to head to the garage and get things checked out. It`s just not worth the risk of having the brakes give out when you need them most.

    Tires
Another part of vehicles that tends to need attention more frequently is the tires. The last thing you want is a blowout on the highway, so keeping your tires in good condition and making sure to replace them with new or used tires when needed, will help keep your vehicle safe.

Things to watch for include bulging of the tires, wobbling or the wearing down of the tire tread. Have a professional check if you aren`t sure about something and keep your tires inflated the proper amount to make sure they last as long as possible.

    Dashboard Lights
Believe it or not, the little 'Check Engine' and 'Check Oil' lights tend to break down sooner than many other vehicle parts. While it may be tempting to just ignore the fact that your overheating warning is on all the time, these are guides to help you stay on top of potential problems with the car and should be repaired.

    Oil
One of the more frequent auto repairs required involves the motor oil. If your vehicle goes through too much, you will want to have a mechanic take a look and see if there isn`t a leak in the system that can be repaired. Without oil, your vehicle won`t function, so be vigilant of the levels and be sure to top up when required.

    Lights
Taillights in particular tend to burn out and it`s easy to miss the fact that you don`t have a turn signal until the police pull you over. Electrical system failures can also cause problems. Lights are important as they are how we signal our intentions to other drivers. Incorrect use (blinking turn signals when your signal is off, etc.) can cause accidents and misunderstandings that may end up being quite serious. Check your lights, front and back, for proper functioning on a regular basis and have them repaired as soon as you notice they aren`t working.

Maintaining a vehicle and ensuring that it is safe to drive is part of being a responsible driver. It helps to understand which areas of the car are most likely to break down and to give these extra attention.
